2 Welcome to Heron House Care Home Our purpose built Care Home is homely and welcoming providing an excellent standard of care in general nursing and residential care, specialised nursing and residential care for people with dementia and respite and intermediate care. We provide person centred care in a friendly and welcoming environment. Our home is staffed by a team of dedicated carers who all have experience and training and will go that extra mile. We are located in a quiet residential area on the outskirts of March within easy reach of local shops and amenities including public transport. Our staff are hardworking and compassionate in caring for our residents. The emphasis at Heron House is on being a true home with a welcoming attitude from staff and full involvement of relatives in all aspects of our residents care. Heron House Care Home Manager

3 First Class Care Our person centred approach means that each resident is an individual treated with respect and dignity. Each resident has a named care companion and an individual care plan. This will cover their personal and medical history, as well as a record of particular activities they enjoy and any cultural or religious aspects of their care. Residents, and where appropriate their families, are involved as far as practical in the decisions regarding their care. Emphasis on all aspects of care is the Manager s primary concern and, together with the experienced highly trained team of qualified staff, all adhere to rigorous standards in line with clinical governance underpinned with internal audits and checks. We have an excellent working relationship with the partners from the local GP practice. We very much recognise the importance of personal, individual and resident focused care. To achieve this, good communication between all members of the care team, be they nurses, carers, relatives or doctors, is essential.

4 Facilities Our Care Home has a warm and friendly atmosphere with caring staff. We have four separate units each with bright spacious lounges and we have a conservatory providing residents with a choice of environments in which to relax or meet friends and relatives. All the bedrooms are tastefully decorated and have en-suite facilities. Residents are encouraged to personalise their bedrooms to make them feel at home. Our inviting dining rooms are where our chef provides nutritionally balanced menus with fresh produce that is carefully prepared to ensure the best combination of nutrition and flavour for our residents. The residents and families are consulted on their likes and dislikes and we cater for all dietary requirements. We encourage residents to follow hobbies and interests; however there is no pressure and each person is treated as an individual. Family and friends are welcome to visit at any time. Activities are tailored to individual abilities and needs. Our residents enjoy weekly bingo and church services. Activities also include walks into town on market day, baking, crafts, gardening and visits from the local bird sanctuary, entertainment including flamenco dancing by visiting performers and trips to the seaside. We have on site hair dressing facilities that are visited regularly by an experienced stylist and other complementary therapies can be tailored to individual needs.

5 Types of Stay We provide a high standard of general nursing and residential care as well as specialised nursing and residential care for people with dementia. Our specialised dementia care includes the provision for early onset dementia and our PEARL accreditation recognises best practice and person centred care in dementia. Heron House also offers intermediate care and respite care for those looking at stays of shorter periods. The home has a team of qualified nurses and well trained dedicated care assistants that provide an excellent standard of 24 hour care. We fully appreciate the stress associated with leaving home to live in a new location, and are happy to accept new residents for an agreed trial period at the end of which there would be no further obligation.
