1 Family and 5-12 Licensure FCS 421 Senior Seminar and FCS 421 Senior Seminar Career and Technical Professional Education Core Prospective vocational education teachers will complete studies in professional education. In addition, teachers of agriculture education, vocational home economics, technology education, and marketing will demonstrate the knowledge and skills specified in the section on Professional Education and the following knowledge and skills: A. Ability to plan and implement a vocational education program based upon assessment of student interest, understanding of state curricula, interpretation of employment and follow-up of data and trends, and use of an advisory committee B. Ability to plan, organize, and advise a student organization as an integral part of the instructional program and provide opportunities for youth leadership C. Ability to demonstrate the application of basic competencies (communications, mathematics, and science) to vocational tasks D. Ability to relate the vocational area to job entry and advanced education 1

Ability to develop and implement a systematic recruitment plan, a program in public relations, and a program for achievement recognition N. Ability to manage the financial responsibilities of the teaching assignment The goals of home economics education are: to prepare individuals for the occupation of homemaking, emphasizing the acquisition of knowledge, attitudes, and skills relevant to individuals and family life; and to prepare individuals for paid employment in home economics occupations, emphasizing the acquisition of knowledge and skills needed for employment. Teachers endorsed in consumer and homemaking education may obtain additional endorsements in the home economics related occupational areas of care and guidance of children; clothing management, production, and services; and food management, production, and services. I. Consumer and Homemaking Education The vocational home economics teacher will demonstrate the vocational professional education knowledge and skills and the following knowledge and skills: A. Instruction 1. Ability to plan and conduct extended learning experiences beyond the classroom in the home and the community 2. Ability to help students determine individual abilities, interests, and potential in relation to career choices 4
