2 Integrating the Value of CME: Coordination, Collaboration, and Community-Centered Care Gap Analysis/ Determination of Need The SCMEC planning committee has identified knowledge, competence and performance gaps in SCMEC members and the CME community at large via an ed Needs Assessment survey, meeting evaluation forms, and informal discussion during quarterly member meetings. Knowledge: There are gaps in knowledge of the latest reaccreditation process, how CME accreditation can take place in System hospitals, and the synergies existing between CME and QI (Quality Improvement). Competence: CME providers are not always able to apply updated criteria in their CME program, specifically performing gap analyses or executing strategies for compliance with disclosure, resolution, and conflict of interest (COI) mandates for live and RSS activities. Performance: Based on ACCME and IMQ/CMA accreditation requirements, even if providers are competent, the performance gap exists to achieve measurable outcomes about changing physician practice behaviors, helping physicians maintain specialty certification, implementing electronic delivery of CME activities, partnering with physicians and healthcare workers to carry out value based care and population health. Desired Outcomes/Objectives Upon completion of the activity, participants will be better able to: Assess how medicine is evolving and how that could impact continuing medical education professional development and CME providers, Determine CME professionals role in improving patient care experience, Demonstrate the value contributed by CME providers, Improve CME departmental goals through embracing inexpensive new technology, Recognize and apply ACCME/IMQ requirements to system-wide hospital CME, Streamline or improve RSS documentation compliance, Incorporate into practice the synergies between CME and QI (quality improvement), Draw conclusions from lessons learned to improve the health of communities. Learners/Target Audience This activity is designed for professionals who are directly or indirectly involved in the planning of CME activities, as well as their performance improvement/ quality management and medical librarian colleagues. Physicians and health care professionals involved in the planning process of CME activities are strongly encouraged to attend. Educational Methods This activity will be a 9.0 hour event with physicians eligible for a maximum of 5.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. It will include lecture presentations, case examples, breakout sessions, a luncheon, networking opportunities, awards, opportunities to interact with experts in the field, and more!
