New Brunswick's rate of 8.9 per cent was 0.2 of a percentage point higher then last month but was 1.1 of a percentage point lower when compared to the same month last year. This was an increase of 1,400 over the previous month, but was a decrease of 3,000 over the same month last year. Page 2

UNEMPLOYMENT IN NEW BRUNSWICK There were 34,500 people unemployed and seeking work in December. This was 1,100 more than the previous month but was 4,500 less than the same month last year. Page 3
