15 Growth Infrastructure Adequate and maintained infrastructure is the foundation for continuing existing development and expanding into new areas. Research and Development Research and development serves as the bridge for industry to move from ideas to new development. Regulatory Environment A regulatory environment, at both the federal and state levels, that encourages economic growth while ensuring environmentally-responsible development of natural resources is essential. Workforce As the energy industry expands, the workforce must be available to meet the demands. Without adequate workforce development, expansion is not possible.

18 Current Needs North Dakota has over 25,000 open jobs right now Openings are statewide, Fargo with over 8,000 open jobs followed by Bismarck with over 2,000 open Healthcare, energy, manufacturing, transportation, public services, agriculture, tourism and retail all report significant workforce shortage 60% of open jobs are non-oil related Looking to the future, our state is expected to add over 76,673 jobs from 2010 to 2020* Source: Labor Market Information Center- Job Service North Dakota
19 Plan to Fill the Need The plan to recruit workforce to North Dakota will include: Press conference announcing the ad campaign May 5, 2014 Paid digital ads targeting job seekers and military personnel launching May 26, 2014 Military base visits, job fairs and college campus visits beginning May 29, 2014 Targeted digital and traditional media to encourage residents to invite friends and family to move here beginning May 6, 2014 Educating new North Dakota residents and temporary workers to benefits of making our state their home Media relations to increase awareness of opportunities our state has and enhance the image of North Dakota Development of a Recruiter Network to help all businesses work together to attract talent All media and efforts will drive potential candidates to which will be the portal to all the information they need to relocate here.
