3 The workshop will explain the background of Community Grants - Social Capital, with examples and reports of how they have operated, and then raise questions for what could be done in GM. We will be working closely with New Economy and the GMLEP, and hope to put together a good case for using Community Grants. Meeting with NE on 1 st August. Its important that the proposal is practical and deliverable and meets needs and priorities.

6 GM Futures A formal memorandum of understanding, drawn up to add weight in driving economic growth and prosperity for businesses and individuals across Greater Manchester, was signed on 29th April 2015 by a partnership of organisations, including GMCVO. Working under the banner of GM Futures, the partnership also includes Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, Greater Manchester Colleges Group, Greater Manchester Learning Provider Network, The Manchester College and The Manchester Growth Company.

7 GM Futures Approach builds on the successful work previously undertaken and lessons learned in delivering the ESF Skills Support for the Workforce programme. It sends a clear message that VCSE organisations are needed and wanted to deliver right across Greater Manchester s European structural funds programme in GM

8 GMCA has secured ESF Co-Financing Organisation (CFO) status. GM can now apply for ESF allocation in one or more block requests This puts GM in control of processes to commission, contract and manage ESF activity itself provided it can find eligible match funding. GM will secure ESF funding through a phased approach based on available match. The first phase covers the Working Well Expansion Programme under PA1 Inclusive Labour Markets. Future match funding is anticipated from devolved employment and skills budgets / allocations which GM will receive from 2017/18 onwards.

9 Community Grants in the EU Programme were co-financed by the LSC/SFA.
