5 HISTORY A rich history of propelling businesses FORWARD. Since 1894, the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, along with the support and contributions of our members, has been propelling business success and impacting San Antonio s infrastructure, economic development, workforce, military installments, and more The Business Men s Club of San Antonio was founded 1910 The Business Men s Club of San Antonio changed its name to the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce 1911 Established the Fiesta Association which led to present-day Fiesta 1917 Secured 8,000 acres of land that became Kelly AFB, now Port San Antonio 1942 Brought Trinity University to San Antonio from Waxahachie, Texas 1944 Developed the Freeman Coliseum, now home to the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo 1946 Formed the South Texas Medical Foundation, leading the way to UT Health San Antonio 1968 Brought HemisFair to San Antonio and the development of the River Walk 1974 Created the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation 1975 Established the Leadership San Antonio program to develop new leaders for volunteer and public service roles 1988 Obtained necessary funding for Brooke Army Medical Center, paving the way for the San Antonio Military Health System, the enlisted medical training center for all branches of the US military 1988 Created San Antonio Sports to develop and attract national amateur and professional sporting events 2003 As key members of Team Toyota, Chamber leaders helped negotiate the agreement bringing Toyota Manufacturing North America to San Antonio 2005 Launched BioMed SA to tell the story of San Antonio s biomedical assets and capabilities 2008 Helped secure San Antonio as the new location for Air Force Cyber Command, now 24th Air Force 2014 Helped secure City Council passage of the Vista Ridge Pipeline project, ensuring a stable water supply for the future 2015 Actively participated in the 84th legislative session, and successfully advocated for $32 million in funding for Alamo Redevelopment and for $30 million in appropriations for DEAAG funding to sustain our military bases 2016 Created the Good to Great to Global Task Force to develop and provide specific recommendations on community initiatives, investments, and alliances which will enable San Antonio to be more globally competitive MEMBERSHIP GUIDE PAGE 1

ADVOCATED FOR BUSINESS Launched Biz4SA, and met with San Antonio s major employers, heard their challenges, and implemented solutions to help business thrive. Led more than 130 committed business, political, and community leaders on the 38th Annual SA to DC trip and had more than 200 meetings on Capitol Hill and at the Pentagon to advocate for 67 critical issues affecting our economy. Adopted a position statement in support of Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE), an innovative financing program that enables owners of commercial, industrial, and residential (five units or more) properties to obtain low-cost, long-term loans for water conservation, energy-efficiency improvements, and renewable retrofits. PROMOTED BUSINESS PRIORITIES TO ELECTED LEADERS Hosted Senator John Cornyn and Senator Ted Cruz to share community and business priorities. In preparation for the 85th legislature, hosted Road to Session with Texas Speaker of the House Joe Straus and Land Commissioner George P. Bush. Provided a forum for Mayor Ivy R. Taylor s annual United State of the City, County Judge Nelson Wolff s annual State of the County, and Sheriff Susan Pamerleau to express to business leaders their priorities and goals. Hosted Senator Carlos Uresti and Representatives Lyle Larson and Ina Minjarez at committee meetings to discuss issues that are important to our members and community. DEVELOPED STRONG EDUCATION AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES Recognized by the US Chamber of Commerce Foundation as one of five chambers to participate in a Youth Employment Network due in part to our strategies focused on closing the skills gap through developing more work-based learning opportunities for young people. In its first year of programming at the Chamber, SA Works, in conjunction with community and educational partners, provided multiple engagement opportunities to our members: Job Shadow Day 2016 (1,700 students served); Summer Jobs 2016 (140 new high school internships created); and Educator Externship 2016 (150 educators served).

7 In 2016, we launched the Build Sec Foundry, a cybersecurity incubator that is accelerating product-based security startups in San Antonio. Supported San Antonio Independent School District s 2016 Bond and Tax Ratification Elections to help provide better campuses and educational support for San Antonio s largest urban school district. Supported and served on key task forces and boards (MBKSA, Diplomas, and Upgrade) focused on helping reconnect specific populations that include our disconnected youth, adult learners, and young men of color to opportunities for educational attainment and workforce training. ENSURED STRONG MILITARY RELATIONSHIPS Recognized by the US Chamber of Commerce as a three-star Chamber of Valor, the highest level awarded for commitment to the Military and Veterans. For the 46th straight year, hosted and ran the nearly three-week-long Celebrate America s Military, including the Senior NCO reception, Birdies for the Brave Golf tournament, Vietnam Veterans Memorial 30th anniversary, and the Spirit of America Dinner, providing a combined $40,000 of benefit to service members and families. Supported and advocated for the efforts that gained nearly $10M from the State s Defense Economic Adjustment Assistance Grant for Joint Base San Antonio. Advocated for mission expansion, including interim augmentation of F-16 training and full-time location, Battlefield Airmen Training location, and potential integration/location of Global Vigilance Command. Hosted Vice Admiral Ted Branch, Deputy Chief Naval Operations for Information Warfare and Director of Naval Intelligence, for a high-level roundtable with local executives and cybersecurity professionals to discuss the current state of Navy information warfare and to allow a forum for business owners to provide Navy leadership feedback and ideas. COLLABORATED ON ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PRIORITIES Released biennial Economic Impact Study of the Healthcare and Bioscience industry, showing a net increase of more than 50,000 new jobs over 10 years and an impact of approximately $37 billion in Signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to bring Queretaro, Mexico Aerocluster business to San Antonio. Led an economic development trip to engage senior cybersecurity executives and discuss opportunities for operational growth in the local ecosystem, in partnership with the San Antonio Economic Development Foundation, the City of San Antonio, and Bexar County. Created the Good to Great to Global Task Force to develop and provide specific recommendations on community initiatives, investments, and alliances which will establish San Antonio as globally competitive in three industry sectors: Cybersecurity, Biomedical & Healthcare, and Cultural Preservation & Celebration. PROVIDED NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBERS Produced more than 90 ribbon cuttings, 22 networking events, and numerous special events to build awareness and facilitate networking for our members. Hosted more than 60 Chamber members on two networking and leisure trips, the first to Spain and Portugal, and the second to Budapest, Vienna, and Prague. Maintained more than 2,000 members. 8 ENGAGEMENT OPPORTUNITIES Active engagement of our members adds to our collective SUCCESS. The mission of the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce is to be an advocate for all of our members and the business community in building and sustaining a diverse and prosperous economy. We accomplish this through the active engagement of our members in our initiatives, councils, programs, and signature events, each focused in three main areas: public affairs, economic development, and networking and business development. Public Affairs The Public Affairs Department of the Chamber works with dedicated members and business leaders to ensure our region is positioned to succeed. The Chamber s legislative advocacy stems from the work of committees, task forces, and members working on issues at the local, state, and federal levels. In general, public policy priorities change as the needs of the business community change. As a result, the Public Affairs team serves as a crucial resource to advance legislative goals of the San Antonio business community on behalf of our members. The Chamber maintains a robust platform at the local, state, and federal level that advances the organization s short and long-term priorities. 9 Economic Development The Chamber s economic development team works to promote trade, expand employment opportunities, strengthen existing industry, and grow and diversify the economy of the San Antonio region. This work is guided by the strategic vision of the Economic Development Council, its committees, and special initiatives. The work of these volunteers helps us create a business-friendly enviroment by promoting local businesses and providing events, resources, and tools for our members and business owners. In addition, the San Antonio Chamber acts as the primary liason in connecting stakeholders within the community to allow for growth and development. Learn more at sachamber.org/getinvolved Education and Workforce Development Council The Education and Workforce Development Council leads the business community and educators in partnerships that impact public education, expand access to higher education, and develop a 21st century workforce to successfully compete in the global economy. The council also develops strategies and policy changes to secure a workforce to meet the needs of San Antonio-area employers. 12 Operating Council The Operating Council strategically manages the internal operations of the Chamber, including finance, membership, marketing, and special events. Participation as an Ambassador provides opportunities for business networking and community outreach. Cybersecurity Council BUSINESS SUCCESS The Cybersecurity Council fosters growth and development of the local cybersecurity industry and provides support and advocacy for legislative issues impacting the industry. The council also identifies and creates IT workforce and recruitment initiatives to meet future industry needs through collaboration with academic institutions, current businesses, and the military. The Health Care and Bioscience Committee The Health Care and Bioscience Committee educates the community on the importance and impact of the local health care and bioscience industry and serves as the key resource to members on health care issues. 13 Public Affairs Council The Public Affairs Council is the primary voice in advocating for members on government and public affairs. The council gathers input from committees, members, and partnering organizations and communicates the concerns and positions of the business community to local, state, and federal elected officials and government agencies. The committee also researches, discusses, and implements the Chamber s legislative priorities during the Texas State Legislative Session, special sessions, and the interims. ADVOCACY Energy and Sustainability Committee The Energy and Sustainability Committee identifies and supports long-term, cost-effective energy sources and policies to promote sustainability for economic growth in our community Water Committee The Water Committee works to identify and support long-term political solutions to ensure an adequate, affordable, and quality supply of water on a regional basis. ADVOCACY ADVOCACY Transportation Committee The Transportation Committee advocates for new and innovative methods of transportation funding that satisfy the infrastructure needs of San Antonio and the region. Events are the best way for members of the Chamber to not only connect with other business professionals, but also to learn about business-critical issues currently happening in our city. Celebrate America s Military (CAM) A series of community events in late October and early November that honors military service men and women and their families. 16 Congressional & Senatorial Series During even-numbered years, the luncheon series features Texas U.S. Senators, and in odd-numbered years, the series features each of the state s U.S. Representatives in Congress. These luncheons are a platform for you to present business priorities to our highest elected officials in Washington. Morning Mingle Networking Breakfasts With such a hectic schedule, start your morning with a good meal and a great networking event, where you will leave with a complete list of the morning s participants, including contact information. ADVOCACY BUSINESS SUCCESS Pathfinder Award The Chamber s most prestigious award recognizes individuals who have forged new and innovative courses for the benefit of our region.
