2 Word of Welcome INFORMM invites you to be part of the Third International Conference on Molecular Diagnostics & Biomarker Discovery (MDBD 2018) with the theme Recent insights in cancer, from biodiscovery to translational outcomes, which will be held on September 2018 at Equatorial Hotel, Bayan Lepas, Penang, to share your research, services and products with researchers, policymakers and practitioners from the region with a direct interest in diagnostic platforms and technologies. We are expecting about 200 participants from academia, industry and government to our conference. This booklet contains information about the event and opportunities to support the conference. We aim for long-term relations with our partners and therefore also welcome ideas and suggestions to support the event in other ways that may not have been presented in this document. 3 The Conference INFORMM has been recognised by the Ministry of Higher Education as a Higher Institution Centre of Excellence (HICoE) in the field of diagnostics, in particular for infectious diseases, since the year Following the successful inaugural conference on Molecular Diagnostics & Biomarker Discovery (MDBD) in 2013, MDBD 2018 will bring together researchers, policy makers and practitioners from the region to share their experience and progress made in diagnostics and biomarkers. MDBD 2018 will see the convergence of experts, researchers and practitioners in cancer study and its related fields to stimulate knowledge transfer and sharing, as well as generate invaluable networking opportunities. This is the first time that the conference is jointly organized by the Institute for Molecular Medicine Research (INFORMM), Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang and Curtin Health Innovation Research Institute (CHIRI), Curtin University, Perth, Western Australia. Contributions from a variety of national and international experts on the subject matter are to be expected, especially on emerging diagnostic technologies and solutions for cancer study to meet current and future challenges in healthcare. The Venue The MDBD 2018 conference will be held at Equatorial Hotel Penang. It is a 5-star hotel peacefully tucked away on a hillock just 15 minutes from the Penang International Airport and the Bayan Lepas Industrial Zone. George Town, listed as a UNESCO Heritage Site, is only 20 minutes from the hotel. 7 Exhibition The exhibition will be an integral component of our conference and exhibitors can be assured of high exposure to the conference participants. For a fee of RM3,000, the benefits are, A standard booth size of 3 m x 3 m x 2.5 m (H). The booth will look like a semi-detached house; back and side have walls.
