2 ELIGBILITY: All projects entered in the 2015 AGC of CA Excellence in Partnering Awards must have been substantially completed in the 2014 calendar year. Additionally, in order to be eligible to submit a project/entry, your company must be an AGC of California member in good standing. If your company is submitting a project/entry on behalf of a Joint Venture (JV); the JV must meet one of the following criteria: The Joint Venture is an AGC of California member in good standing. The Joint Venture project team is comprised of 50% or more AGC of CA member companiesall in good standing. Striving to build quality projects on time, within budget with an optimum safety record is the goal of every project team. Partnering is the greatest vehicle for protecting stakeholders interests, resolving conflicts and maintaining a highly motivated team throughout the project. The AGC of California Excellence in Partnering Awards showcase not only the premier projects in California, but the people and leaders behind them. AGC of California s Partnering Award Program celebrates the extraordinary partnerships that are critical to the successful completion and quality of California construction projects. The purpose of the Excellence in Partnering Award Program is to: Identify Excellence in Partnering Celebrate Success Honor Stakeholders Maintain Momentum Duplicate the Process 2015 Excellence in Partnering Awards will be presented in the following categories: Projects Under $50 Million: this category highlights projects that come in under $50 million and demonstrate principles of partnering. Projects considered for this award demonstrate stand out ability in areas such as: formalizing partnerships, striving to improve communication on the project with all partners, utilizing team building activities, effectively evaluating and achieving common goals, honoring stakeholders, and the effective resolution of conflict. Projects Over $50 Million: this category highlights projects that come in over $50 million and demonstrate principles of partnering. Projects considered for this award demonstrate stand out ability in areas such as: formalizing partnerships, striving to improve communication on the project with all partners, utilizing team building activities, effectively evaluating and achieving common goals, honoring stakeholders, and the effective resolution of conflict. WHO SHOULD ENTER? AGC members in good standing Companies that completed a project in the 2014 calendar year The entries will be judged on the following factors: Adherence to the principles of partnering Demonstration of team building How communication was improved Entries not in compliance with the entry requirements or criteria as determined by the judging panel, in its sole discretion, may not be considered. All decisions of the Partnering Awards Judging Panel are final. The Judging Panel is comprised of members of the 2015 Awards Committee. The Judging Panel will select three finalists in each category. Finalists will be notified of their selection in July All finalists will be honored and the Partnering Awards will be presented to winning member companies at the 2015 AGC Awards Banquet on Saturday, October 24, 2015 at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa in Rancho Mirage, CA. 3 All entries must include the following: Completed official entry form. One entry per category, per company. Entry fee of $500. Please make checks payable to AGC of California. A minimum of 15 different color photos in jpeg format, 300 dpi high resolution for each project entered. You can include color photos of the project and people involved. Also include pictures in a PowerPoint slideshow presentation for the judging process Constructor Awards will be presented at the: 2015 AGC Awards Banquet October 24, 2015 Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort and Spa A color company logo in jpeg format; high resolution. The display portion should consist of materials, including photographs that are securely fastened to foam boards. The display must consist of two approximately 3/16 inch thick foam boards, each measuring 20 wide by 30 high, which have been hinged along the 30 length. When unfolded the completed display must measure 30 high by 40 wide. The name of the firms and the name of the project must appear on the face of the display. No deviation from the foregoing requirements will be accepted. A list of the stakeholders that contributed to the success of the project. The list should include the company name, address, telephone and fax numbers and contact person in Microsoft Excel format in individual columns within the spreadsheet. The companies listed will receive an invitation to attend the Awards Banquet. A Written Narrative containing four complete sections: Summary, Objective Criteria, Subjective Criteria, and Other Information. Each section of the Written Narrative should address the section specific sub-questions listed on the next page. Each sub-question should be answered COMPLETELY in one or two paragraphs and provide documentations or graphs/charts where necessary. The full Written Narrative (all sections) should not exceed eight (8) pages TOTAL. Rancho Mirage, CA All entries should be submitted to the AGC office with the following items on a flash drive: Entry Form Written Narrative Sections Pictures and PowerPoint slideshow of pictures Company Logo Stakeholders List If your company is entering in both categories each entry should be on a separate flash drive. Award entries, once received, become the sole property of AGC of California and will not be returned to entrant (includes photographs.) By submitting an entry all finalists and winning entrants agree that AGC of California shall have the right to use, without compensation, those entries or any portion thereof for promotional purposes in connection with the AGC Awards Program or any other purpose. 4 All written narratives must include four (4) sections which respond to the specific questions below (by section): SECTION ONE: Summary Describe why your project deserves to receive an Excellence in Partnering Award. This may include challenges or obstacles overcome, awards, or special efforts. Describe the benefits of the project to the end user, specifically how partnering led to those benefits. This section should not exceed one page. SECTION TWO: Objective Criteria In this section of the written narrative, please address the following questions: A. Was Partnering Charter prepared? Include a signed copy of Charter B. How were the goals of the Charter evaluated? Were they realized? C. What was the safety record for all job site employers? Include any man-hours, frequency rates, severity rates, and recordable illness and injury rates. D. Was the final project cost satisfactory to the owner? In what way did the partnering process contain overall project costs? Please note if the project was completed under budget. E. Did the project come in on or ahead of schedule? Include specific number of days, weeks, or months and projected project completion schedule. F. Describe your issue resolution procedure; cite or give examples and show evidence. G. How many claims were filed on the project? Give number of claims and briefly describe. H. Did the project have any of the following goals? Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) Disadvantaged Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) Service Disabled Business Small Business I. Were the goals in item (H) achieved? Describe the Partnering process deployed to meet project goals. SECTION THREE: Subjective Criteria In the third section of the written narrative should address the following questions: A. Describe in detail how craft workers were actively involved in the partnering process. (Foreman and superintendents are not considered to be craft workers.) B. How were major subcontractors and specialty trade subcontractors involved in the Partnering process? C. How did you involve other stakeholders and the community in this project? D. Explain how the Partnering process was instrumental to the successful completion of the project and list any special adaptations that you made or that would improve the partnering process. Examples include: things you would do differently next time, lessons learned, etc. E. Identify any innovative ideas that evolved through the partnering process. Cost saving, value engineering, improved productivity, quality, safety, etc. F. Discuss in detail how you attained overall project quality above and beyond what was expected and specified in the contract. G. List any unique team building and motivational activities that involved all stakeholders. SECTION FOUR: Other Items/Pertinent Information In the final section, please include any additional information you d like the judges to consider regarding your project. For example, have you ever applied for local Partnering Award Programs, if one is available in your area? Reminder The Written Narrative portion of your entry (including all four sections and related questions above) should not exceed eight (8) pages.
