2 Program Summary: 17-day program Leave Boston June 15; Depart Warangal (India) July 1 UMass Lowell students will travel as a group Plan to take 10 to 15 students from the UMass Lowell (business, engineering, science, etc.) 20 to 30 students from the SR Engineering College (engineering, technology, entrepreneurship) Expecting students from China, Japan, Thailand and Guyana to attend UMass Lowell students will receive 3 credits towards their Bachelor s or Master s degree The program will focus on entrepreneurship and will contain many class exercises and live projects An opportunity to experience cultural aspects of the country Will include visits to technology companies and social organizations Will need US passport; UMass Lowell International Study Abroad Office will assist in getting visas

11 India is the world's 2nd most populous country, home to an estimated 1.2 billion people. It is a federal republic, and is divided into many states. Warangal is located in the southern state of Telangana. This state had a population of million as on 2011 census, and the state capital is Hyderabad, well known as an international center of IT excellence. Warangal is the second largest city in Telangana, just 140 KM away from Hyderabad, spreading across km 2 (157 sq mi) with a population of 811,844. Warangal has rich culture and heritage, it has been chosen by UNESCO as Heritage City.

12 Warangal was also selected as a smart city in the "fast-track competition", which makes it eligible for additional investment to improve urban infrastructure and industrial opportunities. Warangal is the commercial hub of Northern Telangana and also a developing industrial, textile and educational hub of the state, after Hyderabad

17 In and Around Warangal Thousand Pillar Temple The Thousand Pillar Temple lies on Hanamakonda- Warangal Highway, about 140 km from the city of Hyderabad. The temple is a fine specimen of architecture and sculpture with One thousand pillars implying that the temple has 1000 pillars. There are richly carved pillars, perforated screens, exquisite icons; rock cut elephants and the monolithic dolerite Nandi as components of the temple. Strengthening of foundations like sand box technique, the skill of Kakatiya sculptors is manifest in adroit craftsmanship and flawless ivory carving technique in their art. Laknavaram Lake The lake was first discovered by the great Kakatiyan rulers in the 13th century. Like all their other discoveries and establishments they have utilized this huge store of rainwater for the benefit and betterment of their people. As a result the Laknavaram Lake used to be utilized to water the agricultural lands and for other needs of cultivation. This was facilitated by the construction of two sluice gates that were also built by the Great Kakatiya rulers. a pictorial water spot, from where tourists can enjoy the view of sunrise and sunset..

18 Ramappa Temple It is also known as the Ramalingeswara temple, is located 60 km from Warangal, the ancient capital of the Kakatiya Dynasty. An inscription in the temple dates it to the year 1213 AD and says the sounds you make on the stone plays a rhythmic music Sa-Re- Ga-Ma-Pa-Da-Ni Warangal Fort Warangal fort Appears to have existed since the 12th century when it was the capital of the Kakatiya Dynasty. The fort has four ornamental gates, known as Kakatiya Kala Thoranam, that originally formed the entrances to a great Shiva temple. The Kakatiyan architecture has been adopted and officially incorporated into the Emblem of Telangana after the state bifurication. The Fort is included in the tentative list" of UNESCO World Heritage site. The Monument was submitted by the Permanent Delegation of India to UNESCO on 10/09/2010.

The Mulukanoor Women's Cooperative Dairy started procurement of milk on 17th August 2002, started with 67 Dairy cooperatives and currently raised to 110. National Cooperative Excellence Award 2012 By NCDC. Recognized an ISO Certified Dairy.
