1 Keep Brevard Beautiful Sustainability Awards Introduction Keep Brevard Beautiful is seeking nominees for the annual Sustainability Awards in order to recognize and reward organizations and individuals who have made significant contributions to the sustainability of the community, the economy and the environment. Nomination packages must be submitted electronically to by 5:00 pm, August 1, 2015 and awards will be presented at the annual RiverFest scheduled for September 26, Eligibility Any public organization, private organization or individual within Brevard County that has brought about measurable positive impacts in sustainable practices are eligible to apply for the Keep Brevard Beautiful Sustainability Award. Impacts should address past or current programs or projects within the following areas of sustainability: economic, social and environmental performance. Evaluation Applicants will be evaluated on the following categories with each section equally weighted: 1. Description of Sustainable Activities 2. Environmental Benefits 3. Economic Benefits 4. (i.e. groups, individuals, companies or other partners involved with project planning or execution) 2. Environmental Benefits Please describe the environmental goals of this project. Can these goals be quantified? Please discuss. Have these goals been achieved? Please discuss. How is progress or success monitored or evaluated? How did the activity reduce waste and/or conserve materials? 3

Does the project include, enhance or implement waste reduction, recycling or reuse/repurposing? Does the project provide public transit incentives; enhance public transit; or provide or promote other transportation alternatives? Does the project meet or go above or beyond environmental, energy or other regulatory requirements for this activity or industry? 3. Economic Benefits What are the anticipated economic benefits from the project? Have these benefits been realized? What were the significant and quantifiable economic benefits from the activity? (i.e. energy savings, water savings, labor savings, reduced O&M costs, increased productivity or efficiency, improved product quality, reduced material costs, jobs created, markets created, other) Is the project resulting in permanent systematic changes? 4. Social Benefits Please describe any increased capacity to develop and deliver educational programs that advance sustainability (environmental, economic or social) and innovation. 6 Keep Brevard Beautiful 2015 Sustainability Awards Frequently Asked Questions Who is eligible? Any public organization, private organization or individual within Brevard County that has brought about measurable positive impacts in sustainable practices are eligible to apply for the Keep Brevard Beautiful Sustainability Award. What are the award categories? Award categories include: Education, Government, Non-Profit Organizations, Corporate, Tourism, Individual, Health Care, and Developer/Builder/Contractor. Who can submit a nomination? Organizations or individuals are encouraged to nominate programs or projects undertaken by themselves or others that are worthy of recognition. How can I obtain a nomination form? Nomination forms are available at the Keep Brevard Beautiful website (keepbrevardbeautiful.org) or at the Florida Today website ( When are nominations due? Nominations must be submitted electronically via by 5:00 pm, August 1, 2015 to kbbriverfest2015awards@gmail.com. When will the awards be presented? The awards will be presented at the annual RiverFest, scheduled for September 26, 2015 at Riverfront Park in Cocoa. Are there specific requirements for the nomination package? Application packages are limited to a maximum of ten pages. Application packages must be submitted in.pdf format. 6
7 Any additional information for completing the nomination form? To facilitate review, please answer individual questions on a question by question basis in the order the questions are asked. The nomination form is intended to accommodate a variety of projects. As a result, some questions may not apply to an individual project. Should certain questions not apply to your nomination, please mark as Not Applicable. Photos, graphics, tables or similar may be included but the maximum length of a nomination package is ten pages including these items. Additional Information (50 words or five web links) is intended for supplemental information. Project review will primarily be based on response to questions in the nomination form.
