1 Reporting document on seminar No. 3 in Panevėžys This docment is used to outline details related to reporting requirements of the project. 1. Content. Be involved seminar programme was developed and conducted according to the interactive Get inspired help share analyze concept, which is a new and effective solution to the activation of entrepreneurship environment. The seminar consisted of 4 parts: 1. presentations of major long standing company; 2. presentation of newly established business; 3. presentation of startups; 4. group work. There were 8 different entrepreneurs invited to share their business establishment and development story: background, knowledge, skills, and resources necessary for this. The lectures were chosen to represent different kind of business models, activities, channels and volumes: manufacturing, agriculture, HoReCa, beauty services, light industry. Lectures presented and discussed different approach to the business establishment and development stages: How they came up with the business idea? How long it took to realize the business idea establish the business? What are the main steps after legal business establishment procedure? Important details, entrepreneur has to pay attention to? Have they faced any unpredicted situations during the business idea realization? What success and unsuccess factors they can identify now? Daily routine of the business what they would like to change/ are happy about? What personal qualities are the most important for the future entrepreneur? Other interesting personal experience to share with the audience.
2 2. Organization. Seminar took place in Romantic hotel (Old Riverbed conference hall) on 22 nd of March, The date of the seminar was appointed in line with the project activity plan. Location, number of participants, equipment, nourishment and the price the main criteria, that was evaluated for the premises tender procedure. There was 66 participants from Latvia and Lithuania cross border territory in project event. The language of the event English. Translation of the presentations were asked by some lectures. Participants represented all project partners - LUA Faculty of Economics and Social Development (LV), Klaipeda Science and Technology Park (LT), Daugavpils University (LV), Visaginas House of Creativity (LT), Ventspils Youth Council (LV), Public Institution Panevėžys Labour Market Training Centre (LT). 3. Dissemination. Information about this seminar was spread out in social media, partner s webpages, poster s in the partners info stands. Responsible partner public institution Panevėžys Labor Market Training Center sent press release according to the prepared contact list before the seminar. All related information was published in projects/ partners social media accounts/ internet webpages after the seminar. 4. Evaluation. All participants have received the evaluation form after the seminar was conducted. Participants of the seminar evaluated: separate seminar parts; communication before and after the seminar; organization of the seminar; facilities of the seminar. Results of the evaluation forms analysis reveals that seminar reached the planned goals of the event participants gained valuable knowledge s about the business establishment and development, are eager to develop necessary entrepreneurial skills. Full overview of the seminar evaluation is attached to the report. 5. The course. Opening of the seminar. The seminar was opened by representative of the seminar responsible partner public institution Panevėžys Labour Market Training Centre Director Valentinas Masilionis.
3 Natalija Sterhova - representative of lead partner of the project - Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, presented the programme, project and the aim of the seminar. The opening stage of the seminar was closed by short group work activity. Participants of the seminar received business topic related English sentences and were asked to translate - present it in Lithuanian and Latvian languages Representatives of Lead & Responsible Partners are opening the seminar Session No. 1 Major business of Panevėžys region. There were 3 major business representatives of Panevėžys region. Owner Joint Stock Company GlassBaltic Arnoldas Šulnius (sales/ manufacturing sector, Owner of Ecological farm of aromatic herbs sector. Milnora Pšibišauskienė (agroculture Director of Joint Stock Company Via Unica Dovilė Šipelienė (HoReCa sector, Arnoldas Šulnius presentation was focused on self-motivation and development factor, one of the most important personal traits of the future entrepreneur. He started his professional career from teenage years with the low-skilled tasks. All the tasks appointed to him were implemented by maximum quality requirements, so during the few years he was promoted to the top level position in the same company. Readiness to make and implement own decisions had big influence to start his own business sell the glass machines. Arnoldas also marked, that understanding of all workflow procedures also helped him to develop the business successfully. Speaker also gave some valuable advices how pre-entrepreneur can find financial resources to realize own business idea.
4 Representative of JSC GlassBaltic Arnoldas Šulnius Milnora Pšibišauskienė, owner of the ecological farm, presented success factors of the agriculture business in detail: why she decided to start this kind of business, what resources were necessary, how she found her first clients and developed relations with them. Professional background, hard work, constant development and market research based decisions was marked as an important success factors for these kind of business. Representative of ecological farm Milnora Pšibišauskienė The last major business was presented at the end of the seminar (because of business of the lecturer) and was elaborated as the most impressing and inspiring by the seminar participants. Dovilė Šipelienė develops her family business the biggest hotel, restaurant and spa business in the Panevėžys region. Her presentation revealed, that not all barriers and hard situations she put herself
5 during the years, was overcame successfully, but the experience she gained during this helps to make important business decisions nowadays. She also discussed the necessary business leader skills and traits with the audience. Representative of JSC Via Unica Dovilė Šipelienė Session No. 2. Part 1. Business starters. There were 3 business start representatives of Panevėžys region. Beauty therapist Jurgita Kravceva (self-employment/ beauty salon Oranžinis stilius ) owner of the clothes store Austė Mikalajunaitė owner of the joint stock company Kavos uoga Justinas Dailinda (caffe bar The first representative Jurgita Kravceva, focused the presentation on the professional skills necessary to develop business in the beauty service area. Specialist/ entrepreneur has to have psychological preparation, know-how of the new techniques and products in order to be professional in this business sector. Jurgita also marked, that even her main activity is beauty services, she had to learn a lot in other related business areas accountancy, marketing, dealing with the suppliers.
6 Beauty therapist Jurgita Kravceva The second representative of this session Austė Mikalajūnaitė. She runs own business clothes store. It was her dream from the school desk years, which was reached step by step, stated Aistė. She gained Bachelor degree in business management and emigrated to Norway for few years. To start implement it was most gaudy stage of the business idea development stated Aistė. A lot of things preparation of the premises, selection of the clothes she implemented by her own and family help. She was brave enough to ask local media representatives to write an article about her. The one of the Austė service satisfied client recommended to write an article about her to the national web-media channel These marketing activities influenced Auste business a lot, and she stated that her business is developing successfully today. 7 The last representative of this group Justinas Dalinda, owner of the coffee bar Kavalierius. The place to socialize was the main idea of the Justinas business. He shared his unsuccessful steps problems with the suppliers, lack of planning skills and legal knowledges, limited resources to realize the idea, with the audience. For all that, he overcome all this and today runs successful business. My coffee bar can offer the same quality products as NewYork or Sidney coffee bars do Justinas is proud about that and this is a key factor of his business success positive attitude to the client, staff and daily routine of the business. Session No. 2. Part 2. Group work Representative of JSC Kavos uoga Justinas Dailinda All participants of the seminar were divided into 6 teams. Each team discussed 3 presentations from Session 2 part 1, prepared 1 scenario for the development of the situation (positive or negative one), made presentations and followed a general discussion to search for the best solution. Participants came up with innovative solutions matrix that could help speakers in their future businesses & ventures. Presentations was also analysed and commented by the expert - business consultant (representative of public institution Panevėžys Business Advisory Centre). The best solution for the beauty therapist Jurgita Kravceva group work discussed and proposed to create the personal relations with the clients, expand the services (shop of professional cosmetic) - it could be successful development scenario of this business. The best solution for the clothes store Merilyn start e-business, expand marketing activities and assortiment, find new suppliers was proposed by the participants of the event.
8 The best solution for the coffee bar Kavalierius chain of the coffee bars, franchising, social events possible development scenarios was identified by the participants of the seminar. Group work/ presentations of the participants. Session No. 3. Pre-entrepreneurs. 2 pre-entrepreneurs have presented their business activities during the seminar. Urtė Gikniūtė (@Urtte Bags), sewing/accesosries Žydrūnė Zaliauskiene (@Muu:se - textile & accessories), sewing/accessories Urte is only 12 years old but already has experience in business activities. She started to hand paint on bags when she was only 10. She has more than followers in the Facebook and already opened her account in Etsy platform. She is brave and active. She told, that art is the special business activity, and it is difficult when in becomes daily routine. If you want to be successful you must always search for new ideas that could attract clients. In a few years she changed her bags design in a lot of different ways, searched for new material, colors, sewing. Her presentation expressed the main idea - Do what you love the most!.
9 Urtė Gikniūtė, representative of brand name Urtte bags Žydrūnė is a young mom of 2 little kids. Personal need to find a nice looking hat for them inspired her to take needle and sew it by herself. Now she is working as self-employed person. She is thinking to develop her business, so she is taking the sewing course at Panevėžys Labour Market Training Centre at the moment. There is a big competition in this sector, so she always looks for individual approach to the client and provides on-line consultations to attract the potential clients.
