4 First Step: Research Research was done with all demographics and income levels. Research was conducted through Phone Interviews Talking to people on the street Focus Groups Interaction with Visitors Interviews with City Leaders

5 What did we learn? OUR STRENGTHS We are a caring, generous and welcoming community We have a small town atmosphere with impressive historic downtown We a e authe ti, so ethi g othe s t to op We are affordable compared to Metroplex and Denton We have a great location We have a skilled workforce and are strong in manufacturing We have a strong partner in NCTC helping to grow our future workforce We are unique Medal of Honor Host City Frank Buck Zoo. OUR WEAKNESSES Some areas appear run down We have perception problems regarding GISD, crime and ongoing investment in the city infrastructure Our housing inventory is limited and some inventory is in poor condition Some think we are further from the Metroplex than we are Desire for there to be more local high paying jobs

OUR OPPORTUNITIES Capitalize on our location on I-35, on the path of growth in Texas Attract more businesses to Gainesville Continue to build on our quality of life with improvements/expansions of parks, our downtown businesses, locally owned restaurants and cultural events Strengthen our business community and ability to work together to increase opportunities Correct misperceptions through consistent marketing and messaging OUR THREATS Inability to engage citizens to want to grow or change Perception of a good ole boys club that does not embrace input from others Perception of high crime or if high crime becomes a reality Inability to cause improvements to the historic downtown and housing to improve run down areas. Inability to invest in infrastructure to improve roads, bridges and mobility

Leading extruder of HDPE (high-density polyethylene) duct and accessory products for the irrigation, electric utility, oil & gas, telecommunications, data/voice, renewable energy and cable television markets. Investing $22 million to build new corporate headquarters Te as oldest state a k, ha te ed i 9 5, uildi g a fi e-story office building located on I-35 and US Hwy 82 and will house 150 employees.

Capital Expansion Completes a $10 million dollar expansion to double production capacity Part of Mexichem, one of the biggest producers of plastic pipe and connections worldwide and the first manufacturer to develop an innovative conduit for the installation and protection of fiber optic cables.

MFG Texas celebrates 20 years in Gainesville Molded Fiber Glass Companies is a pioneer and leader in reinforced plastics and composites. MFG Texas opened as a wind turbine manufacturing plant in 1997 and continues to expand in low pressure molding technologies.
