2 V4B Awards 2018 In October 2017, Vale4Business will launch our inaugural business awards programme, the V4B Awards. Vale of White Horse is one of the most attractive areas in the country offering not only a range of business premises, excellent communication, transport links and skilled staff but also an environment that is home to a buoyant economy. From advanced engineering companies to independent retailers the district houses a vibrant mix of businesses operating in and around our market towns. The V4B Awards programme aims to bring together the achievements of businesses in the area, recognising,rewarding and promoting our local success stories. Sponsors are encouraged to join us for launch events, an accompanying workshop programme and the awards ceremony evening! The V4B Awards will provide our sponsors with a number of opportunities to promote their businesses throughout the Vale of White Horse district area and show your support for local business success. The V4B Awards are open to all businesses based in the Vale of White Horse district area and free to enter! Alongside opportunities to gain recognition for business achievements, the awards programme will offer the opportunity to network, build lasting skills and engage with the wider community.

3 About Vale4Business Vale4Business is a Vale-wide partnership that celebrates local business success, shares new opportunities, and provides local businesses a strategic voice. Led by the District Council Economic Development team, we provide support, advice and resource signposting for businesses within the Vale of White Horse. Vale4Business and its business ambassadors provide the opportunities and support to enable all businesses to participate in building an even stronger Vale economy. You can find more information at Awards Launch Events The 2018 V4B Awards will be officially launched at our October business forum to be held at Steventon House Hotel. Following the official launch, we will hold a series of smaller launch days taking place at local business parks, innovation centres and areas of employment. These localised launch days will include workshops and one-toone sessions focusing on how to apply for awards successfully. By hosting localised launch events alongside application workshops, we aim to build lasting value into the awards process for local businesses. There are many similarities in effectively applying for awards and successfully raising funding. This can include financial forecasting, growth plans and credible business planning. Finalists & Awards Dinner Finalists will be announced at a special networking event to be held by Vale4Business in March An Awards dinner with guest speakers, drinks and entertainment will take place following the judging period in March The venue for the awards dinner will be the Williams F1 Conference Centre where guests have the opportunity to visit Sir Frank Williams private Grand Prix Collection. Housing more than 40 of the teams iconic race cars, the largest private collection of F1 cars in the world. Attendees of our awards dinner will also enjoy first class catering, drinks and entertainment including guest speakers as our winners are announced.

5 New Business Award The V4B New Business Award aims to celebrate start-ups. We encourage all new businesses to get involved so we can help them shout about their success! This award is for businesses that began trading after 1 January 2015 and have been trading for at least a year. Entries are encouraged from all new business, especially those that have filled a gap in the market, built a loyal customer base and created new jobs. 6 Innovation Award The Vale of White Horse is home to a huge number of innovative businesses, from Big Science taking place at Harwell Campus, through to engineers and manufacturers bringing new products and processes to the market. The V4B Innovation Award celebrates businesses that have developed new ideas, products and methods that can benefit society. How the innovation developed An understanding of the process involved Evidence of the value created to the business Evidence of the value created to wider society Additional weighting is given to businesses that deliver a benefit to the Vale community and economy Small Business Award With 86 per cent of all Vale businesses classified as zero or micro class, small businesses are vital to the local economy. If you re an owner run retailer, small design firm, pub, boat hire business or anything in between this is the award for you! The V4B Small Business Award is open to any business that employs between one and ten staff. This includes the business owner, where the owner works within the business. 7 Large Business Award The V4B Large Business Award is open to any business that employs more than 25 FTEs or has a turnover in excess of 3million. The business owner is included in the number of staff, where the owner works within the business.
