3 ABOUT ARTSADMIN Founded in 1979, Artsadmin is a unique national resource for contemporary artists. For the past 36 years it has initiated, supported and produced the work of artists across all artistic disciplines performance, dance, theatre, live art, installation. Working with young artists making work for the first time, through to artists with established careers, Artsadmin produces performances, site-specific events, participatory and interdisciplinary artworks that are presented locally, nationally and internationally. Artsadmin has developed its base at Toynbee Studios as a place for creative communities to connect and develop their work. Here, a rehearsal spaces, residencies, and a programme of showcases and performances, run alongside a free advisory service and bursary scheme to support emerging artists. Producing We produce artists projects that are bold, inventive and unusual. From city-wide outdoor events to long-term participatory projects, from gallery installations to performances, from small scale local venues to large international festivals. 4 ARTISTS PRODUCER JOB DESCRIPTION Responsible to: Directors We are looking for an experienced producer to work with us on a full time basis. The Producer will work for a number of artists and companies, whose work could range from small-scale theatre/performance to large-scale outdoor site specific projects. The Artists Producer will be responsible for delivering an agreed programme of work for each artist or company, nationally and internationally. The Artists Producer will report to the Directors of Artsadmin and will work with Artsadmin colleagues in the producing, finance and marketing teams. The Artists Producer will work in the Artsadmin open plan office with a staff team (c20 people) based at Toynbee Studios in East London. Salary: 25-28k depending on experience Hours of work: Full time, 10am-6pm Monday-Friday with some evenings and weekends according to project needs. Holidays: 20 days (pro rata) plus statutory holidays and Christmas closure Purpose of the Role: The Artists Producer will work primarily on the development, management, producing and touring of projects by artists designated by Artsadmin s Senior Management Team. Core Duties and Responsibilities include: 1) Development The Artists Producer will work closely with the artists to produce a range of projects including the drawing up of strategic and financial plans and developing relationships with national and international partners, festivals, venues, and other relevant agencies. The Artists Producer will help the artists and Artsadmin to plan and prioritise the future projects, maintain clear and effective communication between all parties using the guidelines drawn up, and delegate where necessary and possible to project managers and/or short term support employees. 2) Communication The Artists Producer will be responsible for maintaining clear and effective communication between all parties, including other members of Artsadmin staff, throughout the project. Working to Artsadmin guidelines, this will

5 include start up meetings with the development, marketing and finance teams, regular progress and final evaluation meetings. 3) Project Management The Artists Producer will be responsible for devising a strategy for project development which may include national and international tour booking, commissioning and co-productions, residencies and workshops. The Artists Producer will be responsible for liaising with venues and coproducers and may include negotiating contracts, fees and budgets, technical and publicity requirements. Production and tour management responsibilities may also include contracting all members of the required team, creating itineraries and schedules, making appropriate travel and accommodation arrangements and organising freight and transport. 4) Fundraising The Artists Producer in collaboration with the Artsadmin development team will research and identify appropriate funding sources. These are likely to range from commissioners and co-productions, from public funds (such as Arts Council England, British Council, local authorities), international and European funding bodies and schemes, trusts and foundations, commercial sponsors and individual donors. The Artists Producer will develop project outlines, presentations and budgets for the different funding sources, submit applications, manage relationships appropriately and ensure that all expected financial and in kind support is achievable. 5) Financial Management The Artists Producer will draw up realistic and balancing budgets for all projects, in discussion with the artist(s) and finance team, and will ensure that all project budgets include a fee to Artsadmin at the approved rate. The Artists Producer will work closely with the Artsadmin Finance Manager responsible on a day to day basis for artists finances, ensuring all necessary information for financial management, efficient invoicing, prompt approval of payments, bank reconciliations, VAT returns are shared and sound day to say financial management undertaken. The Artists Producer will work with the Artists Finance Manager and Head of Finance to produce quarterly management or end of project accounts and

6 ensure independent audits are carried out and filed as required by Companies House and the Charity Commissioners. 6) Marketing and Publicity The Artists Producer will work to maintain the profile of the artists nationally and internationally. The Artists Producer will work with the Head of Marketing and Development at Artsadmin and the artists to initiate and implement a marketing strategy for each project. This may include generation of press releases, writing promotional copy and other marketing material, liaising with designers and photographers, venue and festival marketing teams, and with freelance PR consultants. 7) Administration The Artists Producer will ensure that all day-to-day administration of the artists in relation to all projects and touring is carried out efficiently and appropriately and make sure that a constant administrative base for the artists is maintained in respect of legal matters relating to areas including insurance, liability, health & safety and equality of opportunity. The Artists Producer will provide all legally required administration for the Board when necessary. 8) Other duties Regularly attend Artsadmin events and activities both within the building and elsewhere and take an active interest in Artsadmin s work Develop key partnerships, and retain strong and effective relationships with venues, agencies and festivals in relation to programming Artsadmin projects in the UK and internationally Represent Artsadmin and its projects through day-to-day work and at arts events where appropriate. Keep abreast of developments in national and international contemporary performance, theatre, dance, and live art Attend appropriate performances, conferences, trade fairs and symposia nationally and internationally when budget and capacity allows. Promote the activities and values of Artsadmin and represent the company in an appropriate and professional manner at all times Any other duties as can reasonably be requested to be discussed in advance with the Artsadmin Directors PERSON SPECIFICATION Experience Of working directly with artists/companies Of producing arts projects, tour booking and management
