1 Scholarship History Brighton Masonic Lodge Danny Beacome Scholarship Program Welcome Brighton Masonic Lodge #247 F.&A.M. Scholarship Award Applicant Worshipful Brother (WB) Danny Beacome was a distinguished community member and an impactful Mason of the Brighton Masonic Lodge #247. After his initiation to the lodge in 1977, WB Danny Beacome became an upstanding Mason by fulfilling the Senior Deacon, Junior Warden and Treasurer offices of the lodge, as well as becoming the Worshipful Master of the lodge in WB Danny Beacome s legacy was short lived when he was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy during his tenure as Worshipful Master in May of The Brighton Masonic Lodge along with the Michigan Grand Lodge raised over $3,000 to help WB Danny Beacome s family pay for medical expenses, however his condition quickly worsened. In 1986, Brighton Masonic Lodge decided to establish the Danny Beacome Scholarship Fund using the remaining funds from his medical expenses. After his death, the Brighton Masonic Lodge continued his legacy to provide scholarships for local students by planning yearly fundraisers such as golf outings, building Victorian playhouses for raffles and antique shows. Since 1986, the Brighton Masonic Lodge has raised over $100,000 for scholarships in WB Danny Beacome s name. As WB Danny Beacome said in his application to become a mason, I know that if my best friend had to choose between helping me and a helping a brother, the brother would be helped first. The Brighton Masonic Lodge prides itself in helping their Brotherhood and impacting the community to help those in need. Brighton Masons wish to honor his memory and encourage those who hear WB Danny Beacome s story to pay it forward and continue to make a difference in the community. Scholarship Invitation Our scholarship committee, officers, and members of the Brighton Masonic Lodge heartily welcome your application for this scholarship award. Each year the Brighton Lodge scholarship committee receives and evaluates many applications. It is our hope that your academic achievements along with your extracurricular activities are exemplary and will have prepared you for your higher learning education. If you are chosen to receive an award, we hope that it will offset some of the costs of your education. This scholarship award is to be used to support the costs of the full-time undergraduate studies in the coming academic year. Please note that applicants who chose to receive the award must return the full sum of the award if they do not enroll in college, university or other approved institution for higher learning in the coming academic year. Regardless of this scholarship award, it is our most sincere hope that you will invest yourself in your education. Many years from now it is likely that you look back at this stage in your life and reflect that your education has been one of the best investments you have ever made. The brothers of Brighton Lodge wish you the very best of luck in applying for the award, as well as any other scholarship awards you choose to pursue.
