2 The CaGBC Greater Toronto Chapter is a non- profit organization that facilitates and encourages environmentally responsible building practices in Southern Ontario by providing a forum for its membership to advance their shared interest in transforming the built environment. The Chapter provides opportunities for networking, advocacy, and education for both its members and the public. The annual CaGBC Greater Toronto Chapter Gala supports our continuing education and training programs and networking events that promote the success and viability of sustainable building practices. It is the Chapter s largest networking and primary fundraising event of the year and brings together over 250 industry leaders and supporters. Now in its second year, the Chapter will present an awards program at the event which will recognize projects and individuals that demonstrate advancement in the green building industry in Southern Ontario. Four Innovation in LEED Awards and a new Innovation in Sustainability Award will be selected by our panel of experts. A separate panel will evaluate the individual and EnviroSculpt awards. The awards program will expand the profile and reach of the Gala while simultaneously celebrating individual contributions and innovative green building design and implementation in projects that have achieved LEED certification and beyond in Southern Ontario. The 8 awards will include: 1. Innovation in LEED Award (New Construction/Core and Shell) 2. Innovation in LEED Award (Commercial Interiors) 3. Innovation in LEED Award (Existing Buildings: EBOM) 4. Innovation in LEED Award (Residential) 5. Innovation in Sustainability Award 6. Greater Toronto Chapter (GTC) Volunteer Award 7. Greater Toronto Chapter (GTC) Leader Award 8. Emerging Green Builder (EGB) EnviroSculpt Award Click on the selected award to be taken to the corresponding submission page. * Nominations for all awards will only be accepted by current Greater Toronto Chapter members. **Only one lead submission per project will be accepted and all project team members are asked to be identified on pages 8,9, & 10. If multiple entries are received for the same project, we reserve the right to require a collaborative submission.

3 Award Category Details Innovation in LEED Awards (4) Innovation in this context is defined as the method or approach to green building which goes beyond the requirements of LEED or which introduces new methods or approaches when designing and building green. It is preferred but not mandatory that you complete all 4 sections. Select which Innovation in LEED Award category you are applying to: 1. Innovation in LEED Award (Residential) Criteria for Innovation in LEED Awards In Southern Ontario LEED Certified within the last 5 years Project Description* Please fill in the sections below in 500 words or less. Each section may be accompanied by up to 5 graphics or tables illustrating the project s features or data. Actual performance statistics or predictions based on design intent needs to be included in your submission. If predicted, please state what model or method is used. All answers need to address how innovation has been incorporated/demonstrated in each of the following 4 areas and please be as secific as possible about how your project is better than typical practice: 1. Impact to Performance: progressive systems that, for example, result in reduced energy use, improved air quality, support waste diversion and generation reduction, or support building management processes in ways that enhance efficiency and environmental stewardship.

4 2. Impact to community (social): systems and/or approaches to green building that involve and/or enhance the surrounding community in a positive manner and/or involve the community in green building and environmental initiatives. Community is defined as any of the following: immediate building community (occupants); broader community of the organization in other locations; surrounding community. 3. Impact to occupants: systems and/or approaches that enhance occupant well-being and/or involve occupants in green building and environmental initiatives in a meaningful and/or transformative manner.

Responsible products and materials: Green building approaches that incorporate methods, materials and thinking that is considerate of local climate conditions of the region as well as locally sourced, reycled, reclaimed and re-purposed products and materials. To complete the nomination, fill out the project details for LEED and Innovation in Sustainability Award submissions on pages 8,9 and 10. Please remember to add your LEED scorecard. 5. Innovation in Sustainability Award Please fill in the section below in 500 words or less. Projects DO NOT need to be LEED Certified to qualify for this award. The section may be accompanied by up to 5 graphics or tables illustrating the project s features or data. Actual performance statistics or predictions based on design intent are critical. This award is not necessarily Project Specific but demonstrates that either the whole project or some significant part of the project has proven that it is both innovative in scope and goes beyond LEED. Projects, Programs or Policy Development submissions for this award must have been completed or implemented in last 5 years. Submissions for this award need to demonstrate at least one of the following: 1- Superlative performance targets which abide by rigorous rating systems, codes or standards (e.g. Ontario Building Code, Toronto Green Standards Tier 2, Passive House, Living Buildings, Carbon Neutrel, Net Zero, etc) 2 - Project/Program or Policy Development demonstrates efforts to influence changes in policies and/or community. (eg. Green Buildings Policy Development) 3 - Project/ Program goes beyond LEED (eg use of Materials, Occupant Engagement, Impact on Marketplace, etc) To complete the nomination, fill out the project details for LEED and Innovation in Sustainability Award submissions on pages 8,9 and 10 (with the exception of policy submissions).

GTC Volunteer Award Criteria: Must be a Chapter member and have been active on the Board (not within the last 2 years), a Committee or event. Include how much time has been committed. Greatly contributed to furthering the Chapter s mission, activities and/or programs. The efforts are beyond the normal scope of the individual s professional duties. 7. GTC Leader Award Criteria: An individual who has made a significant impact in advancing the GTC s mission which is to facilitate market transformation through: - Building upon the successes of the Canada and US Green Building Council by reviewing and adapting policies and products to suit our Southern Ontario area context; - Promoting and enhancing green building design and construction practices within the region; - Integrating building industry sectors; and, - Attracting and retaining an active and diverse membership from across the building industry.

7 The selection will be based on the significance and degree in which the individual made an impact to advance the greening of buildings in Southern Ontario. The following five dimensions will be evaluated: Support of one or more of the GTC missions. The benefit of the actions have been received in Southern Ontario. The efforts are beyond the normal scope of the individual s professional duties. The actions and impact are specific tangible. Although the achievement does not have to be accomplished in the current year it must be relevant in today s context. *To complete the nomination, fill out the project details for Individual Award submissions on page GTC EnviroSculpt Award Criteria: Sculpture contest open to students or young professionals in Southern Ontario within 5 years of graduation (winning prize of $1000, second prize gift card worth $500, third prize gift card worth $350).
