3 Welcome to the NYS Grand Finals and Convention The New York State Rabbit & Cavy Breeder s Association would like to welcome you to our annual Grand Finals and Convention. This is an exciting time, here in New York. Taking place in beautiful Syracuse, New York this show capitalizes on the wonders of autumn in our incredible state. The weather is cool, crisp, and perfect for rabbits. Also, the show is easily located off the major highways with plenty of hotels, dining, and things to do. Later in the catalog, you will see our youth events. These are a great way for youth to practice for ARBA convention, hone their skills, and see if they have an interest in rabbits beyond just showing and raising. Kaitlyn Smith has worked very hard to put these events together, and in previous years they have been incredibly popular. This year, we will be using the cattle barn at the fairgrounds once again. This is a massive building, with plenty of space for people, tables, their rabbits, vendors, and other events. Feel free to bring your chairs, and signs. This show only happens each year because of the volunteers who give up their precious and limited time. We are proud of what we ve accomplished here in New York. We hope you ll join us, and see what we have to offer at our local state convention. We re a short drive for all of the northeast. As always, we ll take any volunteers we can get! Please contact Debbie Vecchio at dvecchio12@yahoo.com if you d like to help! 8 Announcements The New York State Rabbit and Cavy Breeders Association would like to put together a basket for the 2018 ARBA National Convention in West Springfield, Massachusetts. To do this, we need your help. Please bring something that is significant to you, your rabbits, or your community to be placed in the NYRCBA basket. Putting together the basket will be Jennifer Burr, if you don t know who she is, or where she is, swing by the show secretary table to find out! In recent years, the New York State Rabbit and Cavy Breeders Association has seen an increase in entries at the Grand Finals show. For this reason and space limitations there will be NO POTLUCKS THIS YEAR! Any potlucks set up within the building will be asked to be removed. Please plan accordingly there will be a food vendor present at the show. All vendors must fill out registration form (see attached at end of catalog) and mail with payment to Corey Hayes by August 31st. No selling without registering. A Rabbit/Cavy Silent Raffle will be held on Saturday to benefit our Youth Scholarship. Each year 2- $ Scholarships are awarded to selected Youth breeders to help them with college expenses. We are able to do this by holding fund raisers such as this. Quality, pedigreed animals (No DQ s please) are donated by reputable breeders. Our Chairperson for this event is Rebecca Coombe. If you would like to donate animals to this worthy cause Rebecca can be contacted at kcoombe86@hvc.rr.com 8
