Your financial aid awards are available for you to view online through mygateway The financial aid awards available include: Board of Governors Fee Waiver (BOGW) Federal Pell Grant Cal Grant FSEOG Federal Work Study Federal Direct Loans
The BOGW is not a disbursable award The BOGW waives the $46 per unit enrollment fees for California Community Colleges You must be a California Resident Financial eligibility is determined directly through the FAFSA, Dream Act, or BOGW Application
A Pell Grant is a free money award Available for undergraduate students Must not have a bachelor s or professional degree Must be a U.S. Citizen or Eligible Non-Citizen Financial eligibility is determined through the FAFSA based on family income and demographic information
A Cal Grant is a free money award Offered by the State of California through the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) Eligibility is determined through CSAC using either the FAFSA or CA Dream Act Application and your GPA You can check your eligibility online at Click on Web Grants
FSEOG is a free money award Priority is given to students with the most financial need who also receive a Pell Grant Eligible students must enroll in 12 units Not every eligible student will be able to receive an FSEOG due to limited funding Eligible students at each school are awarded firstcome first-served until the funds run out
On campus employment Students are paid per hour Requirements to qualify: Must be eligible for Financial Aid Must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units There is a separate application for this in the Financial Aid Office
This award is a loan that must be paid back Requirements to qualify: Must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units Repayment begins: After graduation When enrollment drops below 6 units To request a Direct Loan: Students must first sign up for a Direct Loan Workshop at the Financial Aid Office
You can view your financial aid awards online using mygateway Website:

Not Always: What is shown is the maximum possible award for a whole year Award amounts are affected by: The number of semesters attended in the year To get the annual maximum you must attend Fall and Spring The number of units enrolled per semester To get the semester maximum you need to take 12 units
The processing time for a disbursement is approximately 7 to 10 business days from the date it is posted on the financial aid portal screen The Pell Grant, FSEOG, and Cal Grant come in two disbursements per semester The first disbursement occurs during the first week of each semester The second disbursement comes approximately 8 weeks after the first disbursement. NOTE: If enrolled in a late start course, the student will be disbursed after the course begins
The Financial Aid Freeze Date takes a "snapshot" of your enrollment, freezing your units in place for the semester If you drop courses on or before the Freeze Date and have already received a disbursement: This is called an award overpayment You will have to pay back some of the money you received because you are not taking the classes Classes added or dropped after the Freeze Date will not change your eligibility for awards Added classes will not increase your award amount Dropped classes will not decrease your award amount Dropping all your courses WILL cause an overpayment
Visit the Cypress College Website and check out the Disbursement Chart! Updated every Semester Shows when awards will be disbursed Shows the Financial Aid Freeze Date Contains a brief Q&A of the most common questions!
The North Orange Card is where your financial aid funds will be deposited once your financial aid file is processed. The North Orange Card will be mailed after you register for classes and have completed your financial aid file Cards are mailed to the student s address on record with Admissions and Records Make sure that your current address is on file with the Admissions and Records Office Current students who had aid in the past will continue to use their existing North Orange Card
Students will be able to use their North Orange card without being charged the ATM fee at the Schools First ATM on Campus Located by the Business building next to the parking permit machines There are additional usable ATMs at the Anaheim and Fullerton campuses
The Cypress College Financial Aid Office is committed to helping you with your academic goals and understands the importance of financial assistance to students. If you have any questions, please contact the Financial Aid Office at: (714)
