Personal Appearances Local Organizations ( Lions, Rotary, Garden Club, Retired Teachers Association, etc) Festivals ( set-up, or just walk around) Senior Citizens Center High School Booster Clubs Facebook Live COMMUNICATE LOUD AND OFTEN Local High Schools County Election Office Advertising Website Local Newspaper City Newsletter Flyers/Brochures ( placed at city buildings high traffic areas) Social Media (facebook, twitter, instagram) 2

4 FEED THEM CAKE OR PIZZA Host a Reception Reception open to the public use all your avenues to promote. Have cake, cookies, cupcakes make it a real reception. Ask current Election Workers to help host and present. Students Love Pizza Have a pizza meeting invite the local students of high school, youth group or college. The pay can attract the student and pizza should get them to attend. THEY ARE INTERESTED NOW WHAT? Applications simple and short to begin Letters or to confirm they are accepted Those who are not accepted ask if you can share their information with County Outline all the facts in response Pay how much and timeframe for payment Hours be honest with the time Paperwork complete before you train 3

9 CLOSING THE POLLS Time Make sure they know what is the official clock What about those in line Paper Work All the colorful envelopes Transfer ballots to Counting Getting results to City Secretary Securing the Polls Have a plan Know the personnel they will need and contact information FINAL TIPS Feed and Pay Them Always Get to know them and have snacks Give them proper work area and chairs If your polling place is in city building make sure they have access to employee bathrooms and break area Give them plenty of opportunities to handle paperwork and have mock voters QUESTIONS? 8
