1 NDCC Non-Profit Mini Grant Information and Application Globeville, Elyria, and Swansea Non-Profit Community Mini-Grants General Information and Application The North Denver Cornerstone Collaborative seeks to improve the effectiveness, efficiency, and performance of non-profits in the Globeville, Elyria, and Swansea neighborhoods. Funding is available for small, community-driven projects designed to strengthen nonprofit capacity, create a stronger and more connected neighborhood, address community needs, and foster community pride. Capacity building refers to activities that strengthen the ability of a non-profit to achieve greater performance and impact. The maximum grant amount is $1,000 and should be matched with in-kind support, volunteer hours or other grant and funding sources for the specified project. Grant recipients must reside or work with existing non-profits in Globeville, Elyria, and Swansea neighborhoods. GENERAL INFORMATION Application deadline is Friday, May 18, 2018 (postmarked, delivered or ed by this date) Awardees will be named by the week of May 28, 2018 Projects must be completed by November 30, 2018 Final reports from grantees must be submitted by December 31, 2018 Eligible Applicants Resident-led volunteer groups with non-profit partnership Community based organizations and non-profits Faith based organizations Registered neighborhood organizations Grassroots community groups Schools Have tax exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service code or partner with organization that has designation Eligible projects must take place within the Globeville, Elyria, and Swansea neighborhoods Funding Levels Total Allocation: Seventeen (17) mini-grants will be awarded to applicants in the amounts of $500-$1, Grants: $500 grants awarded to applicants currently residing or based in Globeville, Elyria, and Swansea neighborhoods 6 Grants: $1000 grants awarded to applicants partnering up with organizations currently residing or based in Globeville, Elyria, and Swansea neighborhoods

2 NDCC Non-Profit Mini Grant Information and Application - 2 FUNDING PRIORITIES Projects or Activities that build capacity for non-profits and creates a stronger and more connected neighborhood, addresses community needs, an/or fosters community pride in Globeville, Elyria, and Swansea neighborhoods. Capacity building could include, but not limited to the following: Audience Development: Demonstrates the ability to unite Globeville, Elyria, and Swansea communities and residents in a positive purpose, mobilizes a team of volunteers to execute a well-planned projects Board and leadership development: May include activities such as leadership training, defining the role of the board, strengthening governance, assistance with executive transition, succession, and search process Internal Operations: Improvements to financial management, internal controls and chart of accounts, human resource or volunteer management; or facility planning Planning Activities: e.g., organizational assessments, strategic planning, fundraising assessment and development, program evaluations, communications/marketing, or business planning Strategic Partnerships: Emphasizes local partnership with neighborhood non-profits, churches, and/or other collaborative institutions Strategic Relationships: Providing technical assistance/consultant support to help two or more organizations work through collaboration and strategic restructuring; positioning for merger or affiliation; or business planning for social enterprise Technology Improvements: IT capacity through upgrades to hardware and software, networking, websites, and staff training to optimize the use of technology. GENERAL CONDITIONS Required Match $1 per $1 grant. The match may be completed with in-kind donations, volunteer hours, or supplemental funding from other sources (i.e. cash, donations of goods and professional services). Volunteer time will be valued at $22.55 per hour (e.g. $1000 grants would equate to approximately 44 volunteer hours, $500 grants would equate to approximately 22 volunteer hours). Reporting Requirements Grant recipients will be required to provide a project report ONE month after the event. The final narrative must include documentation of all grant expenditures (invoices, canceled checks, etc.) and required match (receipts, award letters, volunteer time sheets, copy of checks, etc.). Disbursement of Mini-Grant Funds The disbursement of grant funds is typically a single upfront award payment. 3 NDCC Non-Profit Mini Grant Information and Application - 3 Infrastructure projects (e.g. building construction, repairs or enhancements to buildings or other structures, sidewalks, street lighting, road improvements) Cameras, electronics (including computers), air conditioners, copiers, office equipment, televisions, locks, etc. No gift cards or other like items may be purchased to give to individuals Determination of Awardees Awardees will be selected based on a blind scoring review process by a panel of stakeholders from the Denver Office of Strategic Partnerships Commission and other City and County of Denver agency stakeholders in the Globeville, Elyria, and Swansea neighborhoods. The panel will read and review all applications and determine the awardees based on the following criteria: The application clearly describes the project and its goals The application effectively strengthens capacity or enhances services, supports to non-profit(s) serving Globeville, Elyria, and Swansea neighborhoods The application has the potential to strengthen the applying organization The application communicates a community need The application addresses a community need The application is creative, innovative, and realistic The application has the potential to strengthen the community The application shows evidence of community involvement in the implementation of the project The budget revenues and expenses are clear and justifiable This is the most appropriate source of funding The applicant shows sufficient evidence of leveraging community resources (cash or in-kind)
