1 Memorandum CITY OF DALLAS February 1, 2013 Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council S.M Wright Project and Job Opportunity Regional Pilot Program On Wednesday, February 6, 2013, the City Council will be briefed on the S.M. Wright Project and the associated Job Opportunity Regional Pilot Program by the Texas Department of Transportation and the North Central Texas Council of Governments, respectively. 3 Focus on Increased Safety through Removing the CF Hawn to SM Wright Bend Improved Mobility and Efficiency Enhancing Community Connectivity and Aesthetics Proposed Trinity Parkway (by others) Project Study Area SM Wright Project Scope 2

4 Current 6-Lane freeway & frontage roads serve over 82,000 vehicles per day (vpd). 45 S.M. Wright Freeway Colonial Ave Diversion to I-45 and Trinity Parkway reduces SM Wright traffic to about 50,000 vpd. Traffic reduction no longer needs freeway or bridges on SM Wright. Remaining local & through traffic volume requires only 6-lane signalized arterial. No added (new) right-of-way is anticipated for SM Wright. ROW is anticipated for US 175 connection to I-45.
