11 2017 Call for Proposals Proposed research should help fill significant gaps in our knowledge about what policies can serve as positive drivers of change, including how influencing the social determinants of health can achieve improvements in population health, well-being, and equity. We welcome submissions in any area of research healthcare and beyond that aligns with the program s broad objectives: Inform policy action, innovation, or change Provide evidence about health outcomes (population health, well being, and/or health equity)

12 Children s Healthy Weight Set-Aside Funding New this year: RWJF has set aside supplementary funds for research on the implementation and/or impact of policies relevant for early childhood or school environment that aim to support children s healthy weight and/or reduce childhood obesity. Such policies could focus on children s nutrition, physical activity, or other determinants of health that have important implications for children s healthy weight. We are particularly interested in studies of new or novel policy approaches that have not been widely disseminated or studied to date.

13 Funding and Scope Total funding of up to $2 million $500,000 of the $2 million will be set aside for Children s Healthy Weight proposals Individual grants of up to $250,000 for a total of no more than 24 months (starting Oct. 2017)

14 Application Process Stage 1: Brief Proposal (due Mar. 10) The brief proposal (also known as a letter of intent) must include a project narrative (max 2 pages), preliminary budget, and bio-sketches for key staff. Stage 2: Full Proposal (if invited, due Jun. 16) The full proposal must include a more detailed project narrative (max 10 pages), detailed budget and budget narrative, and additional information. Applicants must follow the instructions and use the templates provided. All proposals must be submitted through the RWJF online system:

15 Eligibility and Diversity Applicants must be: Organizations, not individuals 501(c)3 tax-exempt Based in the United States or its territories Consistent with RWJF values, this program embraces diversity and inclusion across multiple dimensions, such as race, ethnicity, gender, disability, age, and socioeconomic status. We strongly encourage proposals in support of organizations that will help us expand the perspectives and experiences we bring to our work.
