WHAT IS ZIMELE Zimele, Anglo American s enterprise development initiative, was established in 1989 to provide funding and support to previously disadvantaged South Africans, with an aim to create and develop commercially viable and sustainable small and medium enterprises (SMEs). As Anglo American, we are committed to creating and sustaining 25,000 jobs in the small and medium enterprise market by 2015, in support of government s job creation initiatives. Zimele was started by Anglo American IN 1989 long before BEE was legally mandated

4 OUR FOUR FUNDS Zimele channels its capital through its four funds which each look at a specific sector or market. THE ANGLO AMERICAN KHULA MINING FUND The Anglo American Khula Mining Fund is a joint initiative between our South African operations and Khula Enterprise Finance Limited, a government-owned entity that promotes SME development. The Fund helps grow emerging black empowered mining companies into commercially bankable enterprises. The Fund provides equity and loan finance of up to R40 million per project. It also provides technical support during high-risk exploration and pre-feasibility studies. Contact: Lia Vangelatos Tel: lia.vangelatos@angloamerican.com THE SUPPLY CHAIN FUND The Supply Chain Fund helps our procurement departments to identify appropriate black-empowered SMEs and supports them by channelling business opportunities their way. The Fund provides equity and loan finance of up to R5 million per project. It also supplies hands-on support, business guidance and skills transfer. It provides funding, training and skills development for potential entrepreneurs and business owners. The Fund provides loan finance of up to R1 million per project, at preferential interest rates, to entrepreneurs and SMEs. It has changed the lives of many of its beneficiaries and their families through its network of small business hubs, which ensures that funding and training is accessible within communities. To date, Zimele has resulted in the collective employment of over 19,500 people in funded businesses. This in turn has significant and ongoing benefits to the entrepreneurs communities and their families, through the creation of employment and income-generating opportunities.

7 HOW TO APPLY FOR ZIMELE FUNDING 2 Present the business plan to your local Zimele Hub Manager or fund representative 3 The Hub Manager will assist you in completing an application form 4 A Zimele Investment Committee will evaluate your application form to determine whether your business meets the requirements
