5 When and why did you decide to be an entrepreneur? I spent my 20s searching for happiness by taking jobs in lots of different fields, but I finally decided to quit following other people s rules and start making my own when I d had so many different jobs my résumé started looking like Swiss cheese! Property Match was a simple solution to a simple problem. How has the Small Business Center assisted you? The one-on-one business coaching is the most valuable tool for any entrepreneur. Tom Conroy (business counselor) helped me set a strategic course for my business, plus free courses increased my business savvy. The support staff kept me motivated and on-point with SBC updates and offerings. What is the most challenging aspect of owning your own business? I think the most challenging thing about owning a business is believing you can actually do it. I truly feel that more people would be out there making things happen and doing what they love if they just believed they could. Sarah Booth, owner Property Match LLC The Pitch With real estate you often don t know what you re getting into when you hire your neighbor s best friend s cousin! I wanted to make choosing your real estate agent easier and more transparent. Property Match uses key indicators to match buyers, sellers and investors to great agents. Plus, it doesn t cost anything for clients, and agents don t have to track down new business! When you launched your venture, how did you get your seed funding? A valuable lesson I ve learned is to not let lack of money stop you from getting what you want and don t spend a lot of money until you re making money. So I asked myself, How can I spend the least amount of money to do this? Then I focused on sales as sweat equity. What advice would you give to other aspiring entrepreneurs? I tell everyone: do it because you care about it and because you care about people. And work on your mind. Everything becomes easier the more you know and understand how things connect!
