1 French Immersion Courses in Salignac - Frequently Asked Questions - How do I organise my travel to France? It is the participant s responsibility to book and pay for their travel to France. Please see the information sheet below on airline routes to France. The French train timetable website is and you can book train tickets through this website. In advance of the course, we will put you in contact with other participants who are travelling on the same flight or train so that you can arrange to travel together. We will collect you from Sarlat or Souillac train stations and transfer you to the Maison Familiale. Alternatively we will organise Airport collections at Bergerac, Limoges and Brive Airports for large groups of people travelling together. if you are arriving into Bergerac or Bordeaux you will arrive into Sarlat station. if you are arriving into Limoges, Paris or Toulouse you will arrive into Souillac station. Travel arrangements should only be made once you have been notified by the British Council that you have been awarded funding for the course of your choice. How do I pay for my travel to France? From the grant money awarded, you have approximately 300 (450 Euros) to cover the cost of your travel. You can book and pay for your travel yourself and the money will be paid back to you once your National Agency (British Council) pay out the grant money. Alternatively, some schools will book and pay for your travel and they will be reimbursed once the grant money is paid out. It is also the participant s responsibility to arrange and pay for their own travel insurance. How do I pay for my course fee? Your course fee only needs to be paid to Le Français en Ecosse once the grant money has been received from your Agency. In some instances, the grant may not be received until after you have been on the course this is not problematic as we pay for your fees in advance. The course fee payment covers the cost of the course tuition fee, accommodation, subsistence and cultural excursions. In the majority of cases, your National Agency will pay the Comenius Grant money into your school bank account. Your school can then pay the money direct to you and you can send a cheque to Le Français en Ecosse. We will issue you with a receipt once the payment has been received. Alternatively, we can invoice the school direct for your course fee and they can make payment once the grant has been received. Please note that if you withdraw from the course anytime during 4 weeks prior to the start date, then we reserve the right to charge a cancellation fee of 20% of the total fee payable to Le Français en Ecosse. This fee is to cover the cost of accommodation cancellation charges. If you withdraw due to medical reasons, this fee is not applicable.

2 What will I be expected to pay for when I am on the course? As the cost of your accommodation, subsistence and cultural events are included in the course fee, the only money you will require whilst you are on the course is for any personal items you wish to buy (eg. souvenirs and postcards etc). In Salignac, we will organise and pay for your transfer from Souillac or Sarlat railway stations. Participants might have to share a taxi to go back to the station, at a cost of 15 euros maximum each. You should be able to claim back the cost of this taxi journey. How do I reclaim my expenses through the British Council? Your Agency will pay 80% of the grant money in advance of the course. After you have been on the course you need to complete the Agency s Evaluation Questionnaire and complete Appendix 2 (Expenses form) which the Agency will send to you in their confirmation paperwork. Once you have completed these forms, the Agency will pay out the remaining 20% of the grant money. What preparation work do I need to do in advance of the course? Our courses have not been designed for complete beginners. At least a basic knowledge of French is required for the Primary courses. 2 years of French at school a long time ago is fine and will make a difference! We will give participants some time to exchange ideas of good practice. You might therefore want to bring some ideas and resources to share with colleagues on paper, USB key or whatever format you see suitable. What accommodation and facilities are available at the Maison Familiale? Accommodation is provided in single en-suite bungalows at the Maison. Towels and bed linen are provided by the Maison. You have access to a private swimming pool (free) and municipal tennis courts (5 euros for 2 hours). Internet access is available at the Maison. Family rooms are also available at the Maison should your family wish to stay whilst you are on the course. The cost of your family s accommodation is at your own expense. Please contact us should you wish further information and cost on this. Can I stay an extra night at the Maison Familiale? If you would like to stay at the Maison the night before the course starts and/or the night after the course finishes, we can arrange this for you direct with the Maison. The cost of any extra nights will be at your own expense. Please contact us for price information.

19 Annex 2 to the 2008 Comenius Application Form Grant rules This information complements the Guidelines for Applicants. Therefore, please also read carefully the section on Comenius in the Guidelines for Applicants. The grant will make a contribution towards travel, subsistence costs, course fees and, if applicable, language preparation costs and visa costs. Your National Agency will decide on the actual grant amount; the decision will be determined by the budgetary resources available, which will depend on the budget of each participating country and the number of applications submitted. The grant may be increased in the case of disadvantaged persons, i.e. persons who are disadvantaged for socio-economic reasons, and disabled persons who have special needs when travelling and staying abroad (e.g. an accompanying person). Your National Agency will assess the need for an increased amount against the information given in section 4 (budget summary and financial request) of the application form. Travel costs Travel costs are based on real costs incurred. The grant will cover 100 % of all travel costs, provided the cheapest rates are used. Travel costs include local/regional travel from the place of departure in the home country and to the destination in the host country. The National Agency will check that the cheapest rates have been used in all travel. If selected, you will have to submit receipts to your National Agency. Air travel may be used only for journeys of more than 400 kilometres unless a sea crossing is necessary. In the case of travel by car, the eligible amount shall be based on the cheapest equivalent travel fare (e.g. air travel, bus, train etc) but shall at any rate not exceed the cost of one equivalent first class rail fare regardless of the number of people travelling in the car. Travel insurance costs are not covered. They can be supported from the standard subsistence amount. Nb: If individuals reside in one of the Overseas countries and territories or have one of these territories as destination, real incurred travel costs shall be reimbursed in total, independent of the duration of the mobility activity. Subsistence rates Subsistence rates will be calculated and paid on the basis of daily or weekly rates, depending on the duration of the training activity: For training up to and including 6 overnight stays, daily rates will be used to calculate the contribution to subsistence; For training lasting between 1 and 6 weeks, weekly rates will be used. These weekly rates fall over time - for example, the rate for the 2 nd week is less than half the amount for the 1 st week. The rates for your country are shown in the tables below. Grantholders do not have to keep receipts for subsistence costs. Example 1 (training in Country X lasting 6 nights): 6 overnight stays x 150 (daily rate in Country X) = 900 Example 2 (training in Country X lasting 2 weeks/14 nights): (1 x 1 st weekly rate at x 2 nd weekly rate at 350 ) = 1100 Example 3 (training in Country X lasting 2 weeks and 5 nights): (1 x 1 st weekly rate at x 2 nd weekly rate at nights of 3 rd weekly rate at 200 ) (3 rd weekly rate = (200 : 7) x 5 days = 143 ) = 1243 Course, seminar or conference fees
