3 MASSACHUSETTS IIS (MIIS) CONTEXT Legislation passed mandating that all healthcare providers must report administered immunizations to the state 2010 Completed electronic data exchange pilot through established connection with EHRs 2012 MIIS Regulations approved by MA Public Health Council and Compliance Schedule distributed Launched MIIS and completed direct data exchange pilot. Initiated statewide rollout efforts, using AMCI s isiis Vision Outreach Management System 2013 Start of Meaningful Use Stage 2 (MU2) and development of AMCI s MU2 Coordination Module to facilitate provider site/user registration, activity tracking and clinical/technical support 3

5 MIIS AND MEANINGFUL USE As a part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), the meaningful use initiative requires participating healthcare providers to meet established public health criteria to receive EHR-MU incentives. One of three possible public health components involves testing and establishing a connection from the provider site EHR to the appropriate Immunization Information System (IIS)* MU Stage 1: send test message to IIS & submit acknowledgement MU Stage 2: declaration of readiness & ongoing submissions (umbrella) ** Ongoing submission was already achieved for an EHR reporting period in a prior program year and continues throughout the current EHR reporting period. Registration of Intent for ongoing submission was submitted within 60 days of the start of your EHR reporting period, and ongoing submission was achieved. Registration of Intent for ongoing submission was submitted by the deadline and you are still engaged in testing and validation of ongoing electronic submission. Registration of Intent for ongoing submission was submitted to MDPH by the deadline and you are awaiting an invitation to begin testing and validation. * ** * ** 5
