7 Since local property taxes support the bulk of public education, the annual school budget exercise is a serious fiscal and political business. Grants from foundations and the business community are essential to creative funding. Private schools, on the other hand, can raise tuition, and they also can raise significant amounts of money from a variety of development activities, including annual appeals, cultivation of alumni, and solicitation of grants from foundations and corporations.

8 The strong allegiance to private schools by their alumni makes the chances of fundraising success a real possibility in most cases.

9 District budget for LM Week is $1,000. The costs are covered by private dollars The Post Prom funds are generated from private funds Several club sports are supported by private dollars (Ice hockey, crew) We budget for $21,760 in revenue from the senior musical.

14 MAKE A CHARITABLE DONATION Make a secure, online donation to The Associated Alumni of Central High School of Philadelphia by entering your information into the form below. We have four areas that you can donate to, detailed below. The Capital Campaign Donating to the Capital Campaign will help our alumni association realize the dream of restoring our beloved school, including our most recent project to: Redevelop the Library, Faculty Lounge, and Conference Center Build a new Information Technology Center Redevelop the Music Conservatory Learn more about the Capital Campaign at CHS Field Restoration Fund Over the past five years, we have invested many dollars to improve the sports field used by Central's football, track, soccer, field hockey, and softball teams, including new sod and re-crowning. The missing piece to this is WATER! We hope to raise enough funds to install an underground digital watering system. This system would provide our fields with access to water during the year and give our teams the opportunity to play on a field that doesn't resemble our black top! We are looking for 250 alumni, friends, or family to donate $100 each. Or, get a friend and donate $50, four friends at $25. If you can afford more, please do so. The General Fund The General Fund helps support our administrative office including staffing, printing, and mailing the alumni journal. It also supports our website and other day to day alumni activities. Scholarship Donations Scholarship Donations help to increase the amount of scholarship money available each year to Central's graduating seniors who will be matriculating into colleges and universities throughout the country.
