1 Developing Butler County s Future The Official Publication the Community Corporation Butler County January, 2016 Bankers Breakfast Kicks Off 2016 Slate Events The CDC s annual Bankers Breakfast will be held on Thursday, February 25 th at the Pittsburgh Marriott North, 100 Cranberry Woods Drive, Cranberry Township, PA. The event is being sponsored by Northwest Savings Bank, Mars National Bank, Allegheny Valley Bank Butler County Community College will feature PA Senator Don White (R 41 st District). White represents the following townships in Butler County: Allegheny, Buffalo, Clearfield, Clinton, Concord, Donegal, Fairview, Jefferson, Middlesex, Oakl, Parker, Summit, Venango, Washington Winfield. In addition he serves the Butler County boroughs Bruin, Cherry Valley, Chicora, East Butler, Eau Claire, Fairview, Karns City, Petrolia Saxonburg, all Armstrong Indiana Counties a portion Westmorel County. White is also the Chair the Banking Insurance Committee. This event continues to grow we are excited that Senator White has agreed to join us. We feel that he will provide those in attendance with some insight into what they can expect in the banking industry in the next several months, commented CDC Executive Director Ken Raybuck. Registration for the event will open at 7:30AM with the program beginning promptly at 8:00AM. 2 From the Executive Director s Desk January is a great time to look forward as individuals this also holds true in the world economic development. Butler County s future continues to look bright as we see continued growth in workforce opportunities along with investment in l buildings. All growth starts with an idea the people that make it happen. It is not only rewarding but foretells a great future to see the report that Butler County Community College was awarded the #1 Community College in PA by Transfer Articulation Center (PA TRAC)! Private industry in Butler County has also been recognized for their efforts in attracting workers to the County. Continuum Managed Services, with a location in Cranberry Township, has been awarded a 2015 Top Workplaces honor by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The Top Workplaces lists are based solely on the results an employee feedback survey administered by Workplace Dynamics, LLC, a leading research firm that specializes in organizational health workplace improvement. It is great to see companies like Continuum grow in Butler County. Investment in infrastructure l buildings is also strong. After years waiting, 11 businesses on Ekastown Road, Buffalo Township, should expect to see the completion sanitary sewer lines. The Municipal Authority Buffalo Township recently began construction the extension after being awarded an H2OPA grant, in the amount $279,100 from the Commonwealth PA. A $75,000 grant from the CDC in 2014 $20,000 (total) in capital contributions from CID Associates Jack s Ford completed funding for the project. The project is surrounded by 234 vacant acres that have excellent highway access. After decades discussion, Butler s Centre City project is also expected to be close to completion in The project includes a 230 space parking garage, which construction is being managed by the CDC is on schedule. North Jackson Township in Harmony/Zelie area, a Steamfitters trade school is planned with completion estimated in Butler Township is getting a new multi-million dollar shopping center on New Castle Road at Route 422, including a new Dick s store, with a sign that now says Opening Soon! To help house the many workers the County needs for retail other businesses, an $11 million, eight-building housing development is being built along North Duffy Road. This project is also ahead schedule. Center Township s 168,000 sq. ft. VA Butler Healthcare facility is underway, the township is also expecting a new Sheetz Rite Aid Pharmacy across from Clearview Mall s northern entrance. The CDC is also seeing a potentially good year in 2016 with regard to l sales at our business parks. Negotiations have been completed engineering studies are underway that could result in the sale approximately 18 acres at the Victory Road Business Park in Clinton Township. CDC has received recent inquiries for potential l sales at Pullman Center Business Park Expansion that include lots ranging in size from.6 acre to over 10 acres. 3 Thanks to Investors Event Brightens Holidays For Gleaners Food Bank The Community Corporation Butler County held their Fourth Annual "Thanks To Investors" event on Thursday, November 19th. More than 40 CDC members special guests enjoyed an informal evening food drink at the Pittsburgh Marriott North. Attendees were encouraged to "give back to the community" bring a donation peanut butter /or jelly that would be delivered to Gleaners Food Bank. Those in attendance provided 43 jars peanut butter, 38 jars jelly, various other nonishable food items $ in monetary donations that were delivered to the food bank to assist local families in the Cranberry area. "This event provides our members with an excellent opportunity to get together in an informal atmosphere before the "holiday rush" begins," commented Executive Director Ken Raybuck. "The event has grown each year hopefully the items that our members are providing to Gleaners will make the upcoming holiday season a little brighter for those Butler County residents who utilize their services." Attendees also purchased tickets to a Chinese auction featuring items donated by the Butler County Tourism Convention Bureau, Penn United Technologies the CDC. Ed Wadding Wadding financial won the Cfee Lovers basket; Senator Scott Hutchinson (21st Senatorial District) his wife Mary Beth were the winners the Happy Thanksgiving basket that included a fresh frozen turkey from the Jones Turkey Farm; Bill Hunter Hunter s Truck Sales Service won the Yankee Cle Scenterpiece; Jocelyn Howard-Sinopoli C.W. Howard Insurance was the winner the Butler County Basket Steve Diffenderfer NexTier Bank took home the Happy Holidays Wine Gift Basket. In addition to those firms previously mentioned, Peoples TWP, FirstEnergy, Bear Metallurgical Company, United Plate Glass, AK Steel, Hunter Truck Sales Service, Butler County Community College, the Pittsburgh Marriott North at Cranberry Woods CID Associates, Inc. provided additional sponsorship the event. The Community Corporation Butler County would like to thank those who attended the event as their support will enable Gleaners Food Bank to assist local families during the holiday season.
