Committee Reports were presented at State of the Association Luncheon to allow for more time for executive board reports, questions, and Good and Welfare at the business meeting. Past President Piper Laird-Riehle i. Expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve the past 10 years on the executive board. Offered thanks for the opportunity. 4. Vice-President Tim Ringgold i. Current primary duty is to act as mentor to Vice President-elect. According to current job descriptions, an individual acts as conference chair during Year 2 and 3 of their VP-elect/VP term. Lillieth and Tim are currently discussing option of VP and VP-elect acting as co-chairs every year during the 4-year time period as possible further improvement over

Also working to create a conference handbook that would address issues regarding how to run conference as opposed to simply when to run it. 5. Vice-President-elect Lillieth Grand i. Upcoming Conferences : Northern California (Local Committee Chair: Sherri Raley). Search for hotel venue is already in progress. It has been difficult to find a location that provides enough space at an affordable rate. Members encouraged to contact Lillieth or Sherri with additional input : Boise, ID : Southern CA : Hawaii : TBD ii Conference 1. Over 240 participants. Significant portion of those also participated in continuing education opportunities Gold Sponsors, 1 Silver Sponsors, 3 Bronze Sponsors, 4 additional advertisers, 12 bag inserts, 18 vendors. Kymla and Lisa acknowledged for marketing efforts. 3. Local committee acknowledged. 4. Participants came from as far as Germany, India, Taiwan, and Japan 5. Expected to make a profit from this conference 6. Correction to program: Robin Rio is current ETAB member from our region iii Conference: Portland, OR (Local Conference Chair: Angie Kopshy) 1. Theme: Empower, Sustain, Integrate 2. Dates: March Institutes will take place before and afterward. CMTEs will take place on March 27 and March Location: Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel. Rate is $114 for up to 4 guests. Free airport shuttle, parking, and breakfast. Pool/Jacuzzi open 24-hours. Hotel will be hosting the opening night reception, which will include house beer/wine and fruit/vegetable/cheese platters. 4. Additional input should be directed to Angie Kopshy, Emily Horton, or Lillieth Grand. 6. Treasurer Rachel McCauley i. We are in good financial standing. This month, the checking account was the highest it has been in the past 3 years. ii. Committee Representatives and Assembly Delegates are eligible to receive up to $150 reimbursement for national conference and $50 for the regional conference. Eligible expenses include those coming from food, airfare, hotel, etc. WRAMTA is a 501(c)(3) organization

4 iii. Silent Auction brought in roughly $2,500 iv. Silent Auction Winners announced and instructed to claim items at registration desk prior to the Saturday luncheon. 7. Secretary Kerry Leavell i. Members encouraged to contact Kerry for specific document needs ii. Committee report submission process clarified as follows: representatives are to submit reports to Kerry within the next month for posting on the website. 8. Government Relations Representative (Maureen Hearns) i. Reported by Judy Simpson at the State of the Association Luncheon 9. Continuing Education Representative Lauren Bevilacqua i. Attendance and CMTE certificates will all be processed online, participants should expect them to arrive via . ii. Looking at piloting electronic evaluations next year iii. Participation in CMTEs and Institutes has been excellent. Members encouraged to communicate needs/interests for future continuing ed opportunities to Lauren. iv Institute Call for Papers will be May 15. CMTE and Concurrent Session deadline will be September 30. v. Advanced level clinicians urged to present and submit proposals vi. All pre-conference attendance certificates (Institutes and CMTEs) have been processed. Some issues have come up regarding evaluations that have prevented immediate processing of certificates, but have since been resolved. 4:06pmPST Raley, motion to recess until tomorrow at 1:15pm. Thanked members for opportunity to serve VI. AMTA Updates 1. Wilson Trust Update Patti Catalano, Project Manager i. Is a $400,000 legacy gift given to Puget Sound Region on behalf of Eleanor and Raymond Wilson. Acknowledged AMTA national assistance in making this possible. ii. Barb Else is coordinator of the project. Andy Farbman oversees with an additional oversight committee.

5 Western iii. Matching Region grants Chapter, proposal program announcement will be coming soon. American Program Music will focus Therapy on helping Association, music therapists work Inc. in partnership with other agencies toward sustainability of services and accessibility of services. Work has been done through a nonprofit research library for resources for grants and requirements of Letters of Inquiry. iv. Work is being done with Seattle Pacific University (Wendy Woolsey) working with new practicum sites to increase placement options and enable growth of the SPU program. Also creates a greater network for awareness. VII. Old Business 1. None brought forth VII. New Business 1. None brought forth VIII. Good and Welfare a. Wendy Woolsey: CBMT will be celebrating its 30 th anniversary with a self-hosted party hosted at national conference in FL. All members are invited. b. Piper Laird-Riehle: Recognized Maureen Hearns for stepping into the president-elect position when it was vacant. Honored her for outgoing presidency. c. Helen Dolas (Arts and Services for Disabled) and Lisa Jackert (Community Hospital of Long Beach): Stomp on the Roof: Drumming Up Community Resources for Health and Wellness Festival. Purpose is to bring community resources together to increase community understanding of alternative resources available for mental health and wellness. First 800 attendees will receive a free REMO drum. Sponsors include California Wellness Foundation, REMO, LA Board of Supervisors, Memorial Care Health Systems, and others. Will take place on May 4 from noon-5pm. Will send an and post on FB. Additional info available at d. Arts and Services for Disabled recently celebrated 30 years of service. Helen received the Distinguished Arts Leader Award by Arts Council of Long Beach. This is significant because it reflects the entire city s recognition of the creative arts ability to make a difference. Advocacy and efforts have reached the ears of many. Applauded all individuals involved. e. Commended WRAMTA Executive Board for regional and national leadership in provision of grants to professionals. Emphasized need for these funds for job development, sustainability, etc. Wants to see grants further developed to include even larger grant support. Offered to help evaluate the review process. Wants it to be transparent and contain professional criteria. f. Ron Borczon (Director of Music Therapy at Cal State Northridge i. They have received a small grant that will enable a workshop to take place the first weekend in August, featuring Alan Turry. WRAMTA is a 501(c)(3) organization

Ron was one of 15 presenters at national conference, to speak on the issue, and the only one who consulted region s members. Those consulted included academic program directors, clinical supervisors, and additional clinicians. Offered to send his ppt to individuals who may be interested in seeing results of the region s perspective g. Petra Kern: Next world congress will be July 6-12, 2014 in Vienna and Krems, Austria. Scholarships will be available for both students and professionals. h. Sherri Raley: Bonni Method conference will occur at the end of June in Vancouver. See AMI website for more info. i. Rachel McCauley: Starting a California state association with a Facebook group called Music Therapists of California. Message Rachel through Facebook for more information. j. Lillieth Grand: Announced Laura Beer as new director at Marylhurst University, starting this summer. k. Tim Ringgold: Thanked those who have shared his TEDx talk. Expressed honor to have had the opportunity. Grateful to organizers of the event for excellent production.
