2 A CRITICAL MISSION The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin s disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families. The Facts There are over 100,000 people living with, or in remission from, a blood cancer in Canada. 18,150 Canadians will be diagnosed with a blood cancer in 2012; or someone every 29 minutes. Leukemia remains the most common pediatric cancer (those age 19 & under). Leukemia accounts for 26% of all childhood cancers and causes 28% of deaths due to childhood cancer. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC) is committed to curing leukemia, lymphoma, non- Hodgkin disease and myeloma, and helping patients and their families. Your support is invested wisely. In fiscal year 2011 we were able to: invest over $1.8 million in research, which includes funding for 23 grants to researchers in academic institutions, 9 student grants for medical students and $225,000 in contracts through the LLS Therapy Acceleration Program support and educate over 6,000 patients and caregivers sponsor educational conferences across the country, with over 4,000 participants produce educational materials and videos trained over 100 volunteers who survived a blood cancer to share their experience and offer support to those newly diagnosed through the First Connection program Research Program Amount Percentage Student Grants $45,000 1% Therapy Acceleration Program ( TAP) $2,143,000 39% Operating Grants $1,518,831 28% Career Development Program $395,000 7% Translational Research Program $1,400,000 25%

Team In Training (TNT) attracts people looking for a fuller, more active lifestyle and an opportunity to get involved and make a difference in the lives of thousands of cancer patients and their families. What is Team In Training? Created in 1988, TNT has grown to be the single largest and most successful endurance sports training program for charity. TNT has trained nearly half a million athletes who have raised over $1 billion for LLS. With professional coaches, participants are not only motivated but personally challenged as well. TNT is the leader in training people to achieve their best in marathons, half marathons, triathlons, 160 km century bike rides, hike adventures and cross-county ski events. TNT provides certified coaches and a flexible training program suitable for beginners to seasoned athletes, and in addition, all event weekend logistics are taken care of.
