ICECF s Mission: invest in clean energy development and land preservation efforts. This mission is supported by programs & projects to: improve energy efficiency; develop renewable energy resources; and preserve natural areas & wildlife habitats.

11 Energy Efficient Green Building Design Program Promote above-code energy efficient and sustainable building performance. Program provides up to $100,000 to offset incremental design cost to include energy efficient & renewable measures above those mandated by current code. Up to $35,000 for building system commissioning.

12 Design to Enhance Energy Efficiency Performance Optimize use of natural daylighting Select best artificial lighting systems Optimize building envelope Improve cooling & heating efficiencies and ventilation effectiveness (reduce tonnage loads) Evaluate innovative systems like geothermal HVAC, energy recovery wheel, & soy based roofing insulation Evaluate renewable energy systems

13 Foundation Green Design Grant Awards To date, 48 design grants have been awarded totaling $3.4 Million 16 grants (33%) have been awarded to educational institutions K-12 grant awards include: CUSD #1, Cuba Prairie Crossing Charter School Mater Dei High School Rochelle Township High School Valley View High School Matteson School District #159 Carrollton CUSD #1 Payson CUSD #1 Palestine CUSD #3

19 Other Energy Efficiency Funding Opportunities

20 In the competitive grant cycles, the Foundation will consider Installation of Model Energy Efficient Systems not yet widely adopted in Illinois to demonstrate effectiveness in a common type of facility. The Foundation has provided limited funding for the following systems: Geothermal HVAC Systems (26 installations for $1.154 million) Heat Recovery Wheels (2 installations) Soy Based Roofs (2 installations) XDX Refrigeration Coolant Control Systems (1 installation) Daylighting Controls (3 installations) MINERGA Pool HVAC Dehumidification System (1 installation)

21 In the competitive grant cycles, the Foundation will also consider policy development or training programs to advance energy efficient building design, operation, or code implementation throughout Illinois. The Foundation has awarded scholarship grants to support the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance for Building Operator Certification Training Program.

22 Renewable Energy Systems The Foundation s grant program to support installation of on-site, small scale solar photovoltaic and wind systems is currently under review. The Foundation has provided grant awards for solar thermal hot water/heating systems ranging from 20% to 25% of total project costs.
