4 Growth Markets - Opportunities and Challenges In a Report published in June 2012 by the Institute of Chartered Accountants together with UK Export Finance and British Exporters Association it was noted: 59% of companies found that overseas business led to fresh ideas and innovation, upgrading their products and services 58% of entrepreneurs said exporting led to a level of growth not otherwise possible 40% of small exporters already do business in at least one high growth market The real projected GDP growth ( ) is in the emerging economies: Mature markets: Spain 0.8% Germany 1.2% Japan 1.5% UK 2.3% Emerging markets: Mexico 3.5% Brazil 3.9% Russia 3.9% Vietnam 6.8% India 7.5% China 8.6% SOCIETY OF MOTOR MANUFACTURERS AND TRADERS LIMITED PAGE 4

Markets of BRIC regions are increasingly understood, visited and traded with. Indeed of the six high growth markets listed before SMMT International has plans in association with UKTI colleagues for auto sector specific activities in five of them in 2013.as noted in our Programme. We are now planning with UKTI a possible scoping mission to the ASEAN region so that we can gather the necessary information, knowledge and contacts to support further SMMT International activity in The FCO's Business Charter, outlines the support the FCO will provide to British businesses alongside UKTI, helping them to identify and pursue new opportunities overseas, manage risks and build relationships with the right foreign decision-makers. Managing risk funding overseas transactions It can be difficult navigating the various options for trade finance, obtaining credit or just finding a route through the financial, legal and regulatory issues necessary for profitable overseas transactions.
