12 EXPLORE WITH A PURPOSE! Develop goals for yourself: Get in groups of 3-4 people and share your initial ideas about goals for 1-2 developmental areas and what potential mechanisms are there to help you achieve your goals. (5 minutes total for activity) Take 5 minutes to draft at least 3 goals for yourself and create an accountability mechanism and write them down on your orientation sheet ( 5 minutes)

16 ACADEMICS DO NOT expect overseas classes to be EASY! It s the same amount of class hours as Malibu, but finished in less time. Classes are held Monday - Friday 2.0 GPA requirement (cumulative and semester) before and during program.

17 TEXTBOOKS Typically, textbook information is available about a month before program starts. You will be sent an with the information about your textbooks. Make sure you bring all textbooks down with you, for they will not be able to be delivered once you are in Argentina. Textbooks are often available from the staff in Buenos Aires for specific classes. Tati for more information

19 PERSONAL SAFETY Avoid leaving purses, backpacks, etc. alone in public places Do not hang purse from chairs in public places Don t walk alone at night in poorly lit areas Never try to stop taxis in the middle of the street Have small amounts of cash only Watch out for pickpockets!

22 Digital Disbursements Digital disbursements are used for meals outside the facility This system directly deposits your meal funds into your US based personal bank account using your Pepperdine address You will receive an monthly, and click accept to receive the disbursement. You will have 14 days to accept the payment. If you miss the disbursement, it will be re-sent to you at the END of the semester. To use digital disbursements, you must have: U.S. bank account Access to online banking A debit card

30 HEALTH CLEARANCE 1) Schedule your physical exam NOW. 2) Turn in Health Clearance form to IP office days before departure 3) Vaccinations & other health info has to be up to date!

31 FLIGHT INFORMATION - IP will the flight itinerary to your Pepperdine . Please check your contract on Wavenet to confirm whether you are on the group flight or exempt from the group flight. 33 GROUP FLIGHT Will be ed soon! Contact Corniche Travel for group flight return date extensions. Not all requests are possible. If changes to flight are needed on return leg, student will be required to pay any associated fees. No changes possible on outgoing flight.

34 FLIGHT EXEMPTIONS Make all travel arrangements (flight & travel to house) Arrive same day and time the group arrives Submit confirmed itinerary NO LESS THAN 45 days prior to departure of program Can t arrive early or leave late from the program facility Be responsible for your OWN flight costs.

35 LUGGAGE checked luggage fees: Most airline carriers charge a fee for each piece of checked luggage. Fees vary by airline, and it is the student's responsibility to be prepared to pay these fees at the airport. Maximum weight and dimensions also vary and are changed often.

38 STEP Safe Traveler Program For U.S. Passport holders: All students (summer specials and campus based) are required to enroll and log all travel in STEP (U.S. Department of State Safe Traveler Program) which gives you detailed safety information for your locations, enables the U.S. Government to better assist you while abroad including giving you and your loved ones alerts and updates.

39 EMERGENCY ENVELOPE In case of an emergency, your envelope will have all of the critical information necessary all readily available in one place. YOU MUST CREATE YOUR OWN EMERGENCY ENVELOPE.

41 THE BIG SEVEN violations that warrant program dismissal: 1. threat/act of violence 2. theft 3. possess/sell/distribute/ and or use of any amount of a controlled substance in/out of a Pepperdine facility 4. substantial disruption to the living community 5. repeated drunkenness in/out of Pepperdine facility 6. significant property damage 7. traveling to a country on the US State Department s Travel Warning List.
