2 Objectives of our Legacy Project The Legacy Project is a collective effort by the Silver Jubilee batch to give back to IIT Bombay The brand here is Class of 92 Together we can have a greater impact we all have something to put in the pie to make it better

3 The projects are identified by matching institute needs to areas of interest of the batch Focus on important areas where there is a need but limited or no funding from government or other sources Institute Needs Batch Interest Areas Combination of areas traditionally supported by alumni and new areas The Dean ACR is the primary point of contact from IIT and all projects have to be signed off by him Batch interests gauged based on the survey as well as discussions Limited or No funding Batch Legacy Projects

4 We started off with needs around 4 pillars. Student Experience: (e.g., Exchange programs, Student wellness, Scholarships) Faculty (e.g., Faculty Awards, Faculty Sponsorships) Areas of Need Campus: (e.g. Beautification, Cleanliness, Institute History Archival) Entrepreneurship & Innovation (e.g., Innovation training, Mentorship)

5 So far, after several discussions with the Dean, faculty and students we have come up with the following Students Experience: Student Wellness Student Scholarships Development Fund 4 5 Areas of Need Faculty: Young Faculty Awards Retired Faculty Wellness Fund 7 Campus: Institute History Archival Entrepreneurship & Innovation: 6 Student Creativity

6 Student Wellness Initiative 1 Current Focus Areas Counselling Cell Peer Counselling Positive Mental Health Workshops Baseline Survey of Incoming Student Initiative, started by batch of 1986, has been successful, but scale needs to increase How we can help Hire qualified resources including a Program Manager Re-design initiative to include: Surveys 1:1 Counselling Workshops Programs in Hostels Amount: Approx Rs. 2 cr for 2 years

7 Student Scholarships 2 Over 300 students in received alumni funded scholarships Per Student Costs: Rs. 3.0 lacs per annum Rs. 2.0 lacs fees* R.s 1.0 lac for living and other expenses Proposed Amount: TBD (Scholarship to create endowment for 1 student for 20 years) *May undergo a change due to proposed revision in fee structure

8 Student Development Fund 3 Student Development Fund helps students get a variety of experiences- Travelling overseas for competitions Exchange programs Conferences Student Development Fund already exists - we can add to it Proposed Amount: TBD

9 Faculty Related Initiatives Young Faculty Awards (YFA): In order to attract topnotch faculty from around the world, IIT would like to provide grant of Rs 1.0 lac per year for 4 years as a sweetener to new faculty members Proposed Amount: Rs. 1.0 CR 4 Retired Faculty Wellness Fund (RFWF): Faculty members who retired prior to 2003 were not provided health insurance post retirement. This fund supports healthcare expenses of such faculty members Proposed Amount: Rs. 0.5 CR 5

11 Student Creativity Initiative Support innovative ideas and entrepreneurship Students want to be the innovators and entrepreneurs of tomorrow Creativity has been found to have reduced over the years Other leading Universities have structured programs to develop this Our batch could help fund this program Recruitment of appropriate resources Program Development Implementation Proposed Amount : Approx 2 CR for 2 years
