One paper copy must be postmarked at the latest September, 5th 2013 and mailed to: Fondation pour la Recherche Médicale Service scientifique 54, rue de Varenne Paris cedex 07 General principles of the call The Fondation pour la Recherche Médicale (FRM) in partnership with the Fondation Roland Bailly, a Swiss private foundation, issues a new call for proposals to study all molecular, cellular and integrative aspects of the pathophysiology of the visual system. This call aims to support research projects with a focus on exploring the pathophysiology of the visual system in all its components, including the retina, optic nerve, optic chiasm, optic tract, lateral geniculate body, optic radiation and visual cortex. All animal models are eligible. Purely genetic and epidemiologic studies, as well as the constitution of cohorts and therapeutic trials will not be supported. Studies in humans should be based on fundamental results obtained by the applicant teams. This call is granted with a budget of 1.5 million euros. Eligibility criteria This call targets French public research laboratories affiliated to a public organization (public research organism, university, hospital ) or a non-profit organization (association or foundation). Applications must involve only one French team. Applications can also involve other French or foreign groups but these groups will not benefit from the proposed funding. The applicant must be a tenured researcher from a public research organism, a hospital or a university. Grant applications (from to euros for a total period of two years) may include equipment, consumables, travel and/or personnel costs. Selection criteria The applications will be reviewed on the basis of the following criteria: - The scientific quality of the project and the experience and international competitiveness of the applicant team, - The positioning of the project regarding the expected advances in the field of pathophysiology of the visual system, - The preliminary data that support the project, - The clarity of the goals, methods and expected results. The applications will be evaluated by international referees; the steering committee will make the final selection. Warning: you must fill in an application form online and mail to the FRM a paper copy of the complete form.
