1 APPLICATION PROCEDURE FOR GRANTS Amended May 5, 2011 The application process is a four track process. The four tracks are: Track A- Funding for planting a new church Track B- Funding for education and training of planting pastors Track C- Funding for mission and outreach projects Track D- Funding for support of new churches in need The application deadlines are the same for all tracks and they are March 31 st of each year. Applications must be typed and contain all requested information. Completed applications can be returned by way of our address or to the mailing address below and addressed to the Project Supervision and Grant Writing Committee. The goal of the Foundation is to notify each applicant by the end of May concerning the status of their application. 2 NEW CHURCH PLANTS TRACK A 1. the mission statement of the requesting organization 2. a summary of the new church status including core group numbers, attendance figures, where meeting, etc 3. a description of how the grant will be used to meet the congregation s priorities for ministry 4. a specific description of how the congregation plans to carry out its new church development, including goals and a timeline indicating when the project will proceed and who will be involved; the goals should include the timeline for financial self-sufficiency 5. a line item budget for the grant, including an explanation of how the costs of the project were calculated 6. a statement of funds available or letters from donors or other supporting churches showing the amounts they have pledged. This must be equal to or greater than the amount being requested 7. a copy of the congregation s current budget 8. personal information on planting pastor including education/background/experience 9. any other information that the applicant feels is relevant 10. a person named from the congregation as the contact person, including their phone number and address Page 2

3 Where the planting pastor is part of a larger church, denomination, or other organization, the following questions must be answered by an appropriate representative of the larger body: how many new churches have you planted in the last 10 years? how many are still in existence today? what is the average attendance today? How has the attendance fluctuated? since leadership is the key to a successful church plant, where are you recruiting church planters/pastors? how do you assess their giftedness for planting churches and what is your evaluation of this request? what is your assessment of the chances of this being a successful church plant? Applicant must state their willingness to attend a professionally conducted church planters assessment program or to show evidence of previous attendance and record of assessment. The Foundation will consider other assessment programs, but favors the Church Planters Assessment Center (CPAC) at Green Lake Conference Center in Wisconsin. The expenses of the assessment program attendance for the pastor (and spouse, if married), will be covered by the Foundation. Dates for attendance will be arranged to accommodate the applicant s schedule.[ Information about Green Lake Conference Center s mission and activities is available at Page 3

4 EDUCATION AND TRAINING OF PLANTING PASTORS TRACK B 1. a description of the specific education and training and how it will be used to equip the recipient for church planting. 2. a description of the recipient s involvement in church planting and how the education and training will be applied. 3. name other funding/sponsoring organizations that are involved, what their mission s are, and how much funding are they providing? 4. a detailed description of the costs involved and the funding requested Page 4

5 MISSION AND OUTREACH PROJECTS TRACK C 1. the mission statement of the requesting organization 2. a summary of the project for which funds are requested and an explanation of how the costs of the project were calculated 3. a description of how the grant will be used to meet the organization s priorities for ministry 4. a judgment of how the project will impact the conversion of non-believers 5. a copy of the organization s current budget 6. any other information that the applicant feels is relevant 7. a person named from the organization as the contact person, including their phone number and address Page 5

6 NEW CHURCHES IN NEED TRACK D [This track is intended to provide support for new churches (less than three years old) that have demonstrated success in growing God s kingdom, but are not yet financially selfsufficient] 1. the mission statement of the requesting organization 2. a summary of the new church status including core group numbers, attendance figures, where meeting, etc 3. a description of how the grant will be used to meet the congregation s priorities for ministry 4. a specific description of how the congregation plans to carry out its new church development, including goals and a timeline indicating when the project will proceed and who will be involved; the goals should include the timeline for financial self-sufficiency 5. a line item budget for the grant, including an explanation of how the costs of the project were calculated 6. a copy of the congregation s current budget 7. personal information on lead pastor including education/background/experience 8. any other information that the applicant feels is relevant 9. a person named from the congregation as the contact person, including their phone number and address Page 6
