I hope 2011 has started off well for you all! I'm looking forward to everything that we have planned for TCAPA this year. I hope to see all of your sororities represented at our Council meeting on February 9 and again at our Badge Day Social on March 7. Delegates, alternate delegates, and presidents I appreciate all that you do to Becky Soderholm inform and educate your sisters about TCAPA President TCAPA. Without your support, we wouldn't be able to provide opportunities such as networking and socializing to your alumnae. Thank you for encouraging your sisters to take advantage of all that we have to offer. I have enjoyed getting to know so many of you and I strongly believe in the power of making a personal connection. In my experience, sending an individual or Facebook message inviting an alumna to an event will yield much better results than a mass , newsletter, or Evite ever could. Taking the time to build a one-on-one relationship is absolutely worthwhile and it's amazing what you can achieve through personal connections! Some of you reading this may receive a personal or message asking you to apply for one of our open executive board positions in May. Please take this suggestion seriously and consider stepping up your involvement in TCAPA! I have truly enjoyed working with all of the women who have served on the executive board with me. Everyone has different talents and experiences to bring to our board and we have had so much fun together! I encourage you to ask lots of questions of the current officers and see if one of our positions is a good fit for you. As always, I am proud of what TCAPA has accomplished since reorganizing 15 months ago. I look forward to seeing what the future brings! In Panhellenic, Becky (TCAPA)

2 Winter 2011 TCAPA Newsletter Page 2 Nominations Open for Executive Board by Becky Soderholm, President T he term for our current Executive Board positions will come to an end in May. This means it's time for new Panhellenic sisters to step into our leadership roles! In the coming weeks, TCAPA's Nominations Committee will start seeking nominations for the TCAPA Executive Board positions including President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Nominations will be due by May 4 and the slate of officers will be presented and voted on at the TCAPA annual meeting on May 11. By holding a position on TCAPA's Executive Board, you can build upon what has been started and help move our organization forward. Through this volunteer experience, you can improve your leadership skills, learn more about yourself, gain fabulous ideas to bring back to your own alumnae chapter, and have fun with new friends! If you are interested in running for one of the positions or would like to nominate someone and have any questions, please contact us at or contact any of our current executive board officers. We look forward to receiving your nominations! Happy Founders Day! 3 Winter 2011 TCAPA Newsletter Page 3 TCAPA Web Site is Launched by Shelley Monitor, Secretary We now have an online resource for information for the Twin Cities Alumnae Panhellenic Association! The site can work as an electronic delegate manual and source of current group information. There are pages on the site for a calendar of events, newsletters, minutes, committees, delegate resources, and information on how to join. Hopefully this can be helpful to current and future delegates and chapter alumnae presidents to keep track of TCAPA information without having to pass along a manual from year to year. A huge THANK YOU goes to Jenn Rassett of Alpha Sigma Alpha for setting up our efolio account. Jenn connected us with this free Web site tool when she was serving as our Vice President last fall.

4 Winter 2011 TCAPA Newsletter Page Budget By Brooke Jacobson, Treasurer Here are the budget procedures and breakdown that the budget committee came up with in December: Proposed Budget Procedures: The annual budget for each year will consist of the dues collected the previous year (example: dues collected in will be used in the budget). Committees will have until the February council meeting of each year to determine if they will be using the funds allocated to them. If it is determined that the funds will not be needed, the following procedures may be followed: 1. Each of the committees may decide to reallocate the funds to the following year for major programming events. 2. The Philanthropy Committee may donate all funds allocated for the year to a charity. Only the Philanthropy Committee may allocate excess funds to a charity. 3. The funds may be reallocated to the reserve fund. 4. By special request, any committee may request extra funds if other committees have excess funds. Reallocation will be decided upon by the Executive Board. Proposed Budget Breakdown: Administrative: $40 (NPC annual dues) + 5% Collegiate Relations Committee: 15% Philanthropy Committee: 15% Public Relations Committee: 15% Social Committee: 15% Special Fund: 25% Reserve: 10% The Special Fund will consist of money to be designated for TCAPA awards to be given out at the annual Badge Day social.

7 Winter 2011 TCAPA Newsletter Page 7 International Badge Day 2011 by Yee Ling Mui, Social Chair I nternational Badge Day was established in 1997 by the National Panhellenic Conference to set aside a day or an event for women across the nation to wear their sorority badges or Greek letters in a celebration of sisterhood. The celebration this year has been set for Monday, March 7. TCAPA will observe this celebration with a social event for members and friends. Date: Monday, March 7, 2011 Time: 5:30-8:30 pm Venue: Granite City, Eagan, MN Address: 3330 Pilot Knob Road Eagan, MN Phone: Follow these links for more information about Granite City and their menu: Granite City Map and Information Granite City Menu We will send out an Evite invitation to delegates, alternate delegates, and chapter presidents in February with these event details and to get a count of how many women intend to participate. Social activity idea - The TCAPA social committee is asking that any members who plan to attend the Badge day social to please share a special or favorite memento from their collegiate days (ie. photo, paddle, t-shirt, etc) and to please bring the item with them. There is no requirement to participate, but it would be fun to see what sorts of things people will bring and to hear the interesting stories that will accompany these items! (*Please remember to be tasteful when selecting your memento as individuals may have different ideas of funny vs. offensive. Thank you!)
