Don t Miss Valuable Training At Chapter Leadership Forum Scheduled March In St. Louis As a reminder, registration is now open for the 2017 Chapter Leadership Forum scheduled March at the Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark in St. Louis, Missouri. Chapter officers, board members and upcoming leaders, as well as spouses/guests, are invited to attend this intensive training. The Chapter Leadership Forum is designed to give chapter officers and others the training they will need to lead their chapters and to fulfill the duties of their respective offices. See the box on Page 2 in the right column for a list of the topics that will be covered in the training session. Another copy of the registration form that was sent in September is included with this issue of Chapter Update. Don t miss this opportunity for great chapter leadership training. Continued on Page 2 Reminder Regarding EASA s Annual Meeting Requirements Please remember that EASA s Governing Policies 19 and 23 require chapters to: Hold at least one technical and/or educational training meeting annually in its geographic territory; Hold at least one business meeting annually with reports given by the chapter officers and an up-todate treasurer s report or financial statement (this meeting can be conducted concurrently with the technical and/or educational meeting); Publish a minimum of one chapter newsletter annually (recommended only); Submit to EASA s President and CEO (lraynes@ easa.com) the minutes within 30 days of the event; Submit to EASA s President and CEO and Regional Director copies of meeting notices a minimum of 30 Continued on Page 2

2 Make Sure There Is More Than One Signature On Chapter Bank Account It s important to have more than one signature on your chapter s bank account. That s a good practice to expedite payments and get answers to banking information if one chapter officer isn t available. It is also important that ALL officers of the chapter know the status of the account and how to access it. Register Today! EASA Headquarters will pay for the meeting space, materials and meals (reception on Thursday; breakfast, lunch and dinner on Friday; breakfast and lunch on Saturday). Chapters/attendees will be responsible for travel, hotel rooms and other meals. Attendees must make their own hotel reservations. The rate at the Hilton St. Louis is just $129/night. Reserve your room at: Attendees will need to travel to the meeting on Thursday, March 23, and return home on Sunday, March 26. There will be an informal reception from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 23. Afterwards, those who choose may go to dinner with other chapter leaders. Spouses/guests of chapter leaders are invited to attend the meeting and the various functions but are not required to participate. Members of EASA s Executive Committee and staff will conduct the training. 4 Provide Education, Increase Chapter/Regional Participation: Plan To Offer Private Seminar At Meetings More and more chapters and regions are offering EASA s valuable seminars on a private basis. Chapters and regions have found that by offering these programs at their meetings, they can increase member participation in their events and provide a valuable service to members. These programs also help fulfill Governing Policy 19 s requirement for chapters to hold at least one technical and/or educational training meeting annually (although EASA seminars are not required to do so). Most of EASA s seminars are available to chapters, regions and individual members as well. See the enclosed form for a list of seminars, fees and other requirements.
