2 Special Guests Sara Hwang International Vice President, Division 1 Sara Hwang was born in Santiago, Chile. She spent much of her early childhood traveling between Chile and South Korea, developing a deep understanding for the importance of cultural diversity. After graduating high school in 2011, Hwang attended Bergen Community College (BCC) for three semesters. However, being one of the main providers for her family, she was forced to leave school to help provide for her family and save money to fund her own education. After two years, Hwang returned to BCC as a nontraditional student. Growing up, I was a shy girl who was afraid to speak up for myself and for others, she said. Within the last year of joining Phi Theta Kappa, I have developed a sense of motivation to become better than I thought I could be. By influencing even one person, I can create a chain of success which could multiply and potentially affect the entire world. She firmly believes service and fellowship will encourage students to reach for success academically, professionally and personally. Hwang is now fulfilling her prerequisites for pharmacy school before transferring to a Pharm.D program. She enjoys reading, painting, eating and spending time outdoors. Susan B. Dunton, Ph.D. President, NHTI-Concord Susan B. Dunton, Ph.D. was named the 5th president of NHTI, Concord s Community College, in July, 2014, and is fully immersed herself in the culture and rhythm of the College. During her thirty years in higher education, she has held leadership positions in both academic and student affairs, and has considerable experience at community colleges. She has been an active leader in the community and in a variety of professional organizations. Susan completed the Management Development Program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and earned her Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Connecticut, holds Master s degrees in Student Personnel Services and Music Education from the University of South Carolina, and completed her undergraduate work in music at Ithaca College (NY). She and her husband, James C. Tanner, reside in Concord, spending time playing golf and making trips to the beach.

Like James Joyce with a Broad Sword." Colonel Frederick R. Miclon Jr. Keynote Speaker, Saturday Night Col. Frederick R. Miclon Jr. is the vice commander for the 103rd Airlift Wing, Connecticut Air National Guard located at Bradley Air National Guard Base, East Granby, CT. He shares responsibility with the wing commander for the operational readiness of the wing and in leading the nearly 1,200 members that make up its operational and support units as well as its geographically separated unit, the 103rd Air Control Squadron located in Orange, CT. Col. Miclon began his military career enlisting in the United States Marine Corps in 1976, serving four years as an aircraft hydraulic mechanic. He joined the Connecticut Air National Guard in 1980 as an aircraft pneudraulics specialist and was commissioned through the Academy of Military Science in 1987 as a munitions officer. Col. Miclon has served in numerous command positions at the squadron and group levels and as Director of Staff, Joint Force Headquarters, Connecticut Air National Guard. Col. Miclon served two tours supporting Operation SOUTHERN WATCH in Kuwait in 1999 and He was mobilized and deployed by presidential order in 2003 for Operation IRAQI FREEDOM where he participated in the opening phase of the war as commander of the 387th Expeditionary Maintenance Squadron.
