3 Letter from the Principal Dear Friends, September 2, 2007 marks the 125th Anniversary of St. Elizabeth Academy. The enduring success of St. Elizabeth Academy is attributable to the faithfulness of the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood to their mission, their foresight and their ability to respond to the evolving needs of young women in a global society. As we continue to embrace the mission of the Sisters, we are called to look beyond our125 years of celebrated history. The profession of teaching is ever-changing. New research on teaching gives professionals insights into the impact of gender and culture on thinking and learning. We must prepare our students for global citizenship. The needs and demands of our world will dictate the knowledge and skills our students must possess in order to succeed. St. Elizabeth Academy and the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood are committed to making all administrators, faculty and staff accountable for implementing best practices of teaching in the classroom. Best practices, however, require continued improvements to our school, especially in the areas of science and technology. We have completed Phase I of the Empowering WomenInScience Project, the total renovation of the Biology Lab, and look forward to the renovation of the Chemistry Lab in The mission of St. Elizabeth Academy mandates that our graduates will communicate effectively, analyze and apply information using appropriate technology. In an effort to realize this mission we are delighted to announce that St. Elizabeth Academy will have a new Media Lab and intra broadcast station for the school year. We are committed to giving our students expanded opportunities for learning, including on-line courses and more unique classes for authentic learning. Our global economy places a premium on creative and innovative skills. The ability to think across academic disciplines combined with a high level of competence in the traditional academics will prepare our students for the challenges of the 21st century. As St. Elizabeth Academy goes beyond 125 years, the mission, to make academic success an attainable goal for girls who have a wide range of abilities and come from diverse economic backgrounds, must be carried forward. Although the cost of Catholic education continues to rise, St. Elizabeth Academy is committed to making Catholic education accessible to all segments of our population. The St. Elizabeth Academy Scholarship Fund continues to support this endeavor and continues to give countless young women the opportunity of a lifetime. St. Elizabeth Academy and the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood are committed to a first choice school, known for following the gospel values of Jesus Christ, consistent in academic excellence, and developing the successful woman inside each girl. The urban location of St. Elizabeth Academy and its willingness to be a diverse community provides our students with a unique opportunity to form a strong collaboration of women, who appreciate, respect and understand the obstacles that prevent us from becoming a truly global community.
