It s that time of year again. Tis the season to celebrate with friends and family and to remember to be thankful for all that we have been given. Looking back on the past year, I must say it s been a life changing experience. In fact, the last three years with OSUE have radically impacted my life. I have learned so much and I am incredibly grateful for the kindness so many Jefferson County residents and organizations have shown me. I want to inform you that my official resignation as the local OSUE Agriculture and Natural Resources Educator is January 1 st, I have been accepted into a full time Ph.D. program, which will require me to move away from the area. I am so thankful for the experiences, lessons, and opportunities brought to light through this position. Many blessings to each of you on this lovely new year. 2 OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY EXTENSION 2016 Tri-County Agronomy Day- Feb the Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum, Carrollton, OH OSU Extension is pleased to be offering the 2016 Tri-County Agronomy Day to farmers in Carroll, Harrison and Jefferson counties. This educational event will be held on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at the Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum located at 3266 Dyewood Road, SW in Carrollton. RSVPs are required. Please call the Carroll County Extension office at Ohio Pesticide License Testing- March the Jefferson County Extension office, 10am Agricultural producers interested in applying restricted use chemicals must take the Ohio Pesticide License Examination. The testing date for new applicators or for those wishing to add categories is March 24th, 2016 at 10am at the Jefferson County Extension office. G. Drage Career Technical Center, Massillon, OH The third annual East Ohio Women in Agriculture Conference will be April 1 st at the R. G. Drage Career Technical Center in Massillon, OH. Sessions will go from 9am-3pm, with special breakout sessions. There is also a youth track for high school students with sessions presented by Ohio FFA Association state officers. The $30 fee for your pesticide applicator license is paid separate from the recertification program and must be sent to the Ohio Department of Agriculture. In June, a new law was signed in Ohio requiring farmers who apply fertilizer to 50 acres or more to obtain an agricultural fertilizer certification. Applicators who have a pesticide applicator license and need fertilizer certification are required to obtain 2 hours of agricultural fertilizer certification in addition to their 3 hours of pesticide recertification.
