THEME: The Call to Christian Witness~~St. Matthew 28:18-20 Greetings to all Pastors and Churches of the Old West Florida Association. I greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As I continue to pray for you and our next Church School Convention events, my prayer is that God will continue to bless us above all that ye may ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us. I welcome you to the 147 th Annual Session of the Old West Florida Church School Convention to be held June 13 th 18 th, 2017, at the Old West Florida Enrichment Center, with the pre-opening Program June 13 th at 7:00 p.m.. This year, as I continue to mark both challenge and opportunity of promoting the vision of Christian Education, the Convention plans to teach how to put Christian Education into action by teaching The Call to Christian Witness, St. Matthew 28:18-20, as we develop a deeper relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ. I believe that Christian Education undergirds every ministry within and without the church. Our mission and goal is to challenge both the godly and ungodly, along with the religious traditions of the church in order to facilitate change in the world around us and to help the body of Christ to become better disciples of our Lord and Savior. During the pre-opening program our goal is to raise $5,000; so, please commit to the following contributions: Each Church $100, pastor $50; ministers, deacons, and mothers $25; brothers and sisters $10, and each youth $5 to accomplish this goal. I am also encouraging each church to support the Youth and Young Adult Congress during the Session and especially on Friday of the Convention, as we allow them to become more involved. The Banquet will be Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. Tickets will be provided to each church. The colors are Royal Blue/Yellow/Silver. Also, the Church School Convention will be sending its Youth to the State Convention this year in July. Information will be available on the Website. At the fellowship of our convention, we, the leaders of the Old West Florida Church School Convention, commit ourselves to do everything possible to integrate Scripture into all of our actions, as our teaching becomes active in the local church, and community, while we recognize that the Holy Spirit works on the hearts of each person to apply what we have learned. 14 OLD WEST FLORIDA PRIMITIVE BAPTIST CHURCH SCHOOL CONVENTION MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR SAINTS DEPARTED LEADER: ORDER OF SERVICE FOR SAINTS DEPARTED I am the resurrection and the life, saith the Lord, He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. INVOCATION: LET NOT YOUR HEART BE TROUBLED. YE BELIEVE IN GOD, BELIEVE ALSO IN ME JOHN 14:1-2 O eternal God and Master of all things, grant us the deep consciousness of thy presence that the spirit of Christianity may forever direct our thinking, guide and control our hearts and activities so that we may eternally be disciples of thine and render unselfish service to mankind. Most gracious Father, sometimes we who bemoan the parting of loved ones are pained by heartaches, and scorned by some as they were: sometimes, we come to mountains in our lives that are hard to climb as our loved ones did: However, we realize that we promised as they promised to keep on climbing for we are assured that you will help us to stand and have the courage to run all the way. Most merciful Father, lead us gently home so that we may join our departed loved ones in the mansion you have prepared for us all. Amen. HYMN: Servant of God, Well Done Scripture: John 14:1-6; Revelation 21:6 Servant of God, well done: Rest from thy loved employ: The battle fought, the victory won, Enter thy Master s joy. CONGREGATION: And grant us thy blessing; LEADER: O thou, who has led man through the ages of his existence upon earth by thy spirit: CONGREGATION: Grant us thy continued guidance: LEADER: Thou who does generate love and goodness in our hearts, and the desire for fellowship one with the other in life s living: CONGREGATION: Increase thy spirit in us. LEADER: Though who has called our brothers and sister from their tasks to the reward of noble thoughts and deeds. CONGREGATION: Deepen our memory of them, we pray: LEADER: Thou who are the light of the new heaven, the new earth, the new Jerusalem, the Alpha and Omega and beginning and the end of all creation: CONGREGATION: Grant a final resting place with thee to all whom thou has called and finally to ourselves.
