Jordin Robinson Treasurer s Report by Bernie Karasick The 's balance sheet continues to be strong with a good cash position and no debt. The majority of the capital projects have been completed. We will finish off this year's capital funds with the completion of the lower parking lot resurfacing and main bar improvements, this Spring. Our capital program is funded year to year with the addition of new Members. The challenge this year is to reach our membership goal. I am encouraging all of you to bring in new members to our wonderful. Due to our great staff, we have a strong revenue stream from member usage and outside events. To enhance our bottom line, we are looking at alternatives to reduce costs. Several years ago, with leadership from David Brown, we established the DWRC Historical Preservation Trust. It is a great vehicle for members to contribute for the preservation and maintenance of our historic structures listed on the National Register of Historical Places. All of the contributions will go to projects that enhance our club's unique historical ambience. The fund has raised over $70,000 to date. If you are interested in supporting this long-term effort, please contact me or Dianne Sipek, our Controller at dianne@dunhamwoodsridingclub.com. 4 Sports Report by Fred Smith Sports Director 2015 Calcutta Participants Calcutta Team Owners In the Skybox 2015 Calcutta Finalists Looking backward on a brutal winter but a great paddle tennis season and looking forward to a beautiful spring and fun on the clay tennis courts! By now you should have received details on the 2015 Spring/Summer Sports Program and the 2015 Sports Calendar. The paddle tennis season is winding down. The rescheduled paddle tennis Siberian Calcutta Event was a great one and it was held on a beautiful day. Bernie Karasick and Steve Phillips were the winners over David Brown and Nate Jackson in a long, hard fought final. Because of the double elimination feature, they had to play each other twice to determine the winner. Thanks to Steve MacCarthy for being a great Event Chairperson. At the Friday night dinner & auction and before match play on Saturday, high rollers, Jim Huskisson and Nicky MacCarthy, drove up bidding of the teams to $2,400. We started preparation on the clay tennis courts last Sunday, and the prep progress is looking good. We plan to open the courts no later than Friday, May 8 th, weather permitting. As we have mentioned before, initial preparation is to take up the old lines, remove some of the old clay, put down 13 tons of new clay and nail down new lines. Some old clay dissipates and blows away in the winter. The initial process this year was one of the best in many years. The new clay has to bond with the old, and we accomplish this with packing, watering and praying for good adhesion. This second process started last week. Jim Kuntzi will be returning as our Tennis Professional for his ninth year. Matt Kuntzi will be returning as the Assistant Professional for his second year and will help Jim in providing an excellent and comprehensive Tennis Program. Last year the Junior Invite Program was very successful, and we will be offering it again this year. Also we have scheduled a few new Adult and Junior Tennis Events. We had great results in forming a beginners and slightly experienced level combined group in paddle tennis this past season. Thanks to Eric Brown for an excellent coordinating job. We hope the group carries over into regular tennis. Jim Kuntzi and his staff will be providing more details on this in the future. UPCOMING TENNIS EVENT, SWIM & CAMP INFO The first major tennis event will be the Memorial Day Adult Mixed Doubles Event on Monday, May 25th from 9:00 a.m. 11:30 a.m. The Swimming Pool opens on Saturday, May 23 rd from 11:00 a.m. 7:00 p.m. Kayla Scott will be returning for her second year as Pool Manager and Swim Team Coach. The first Dunham Day Camp begins on June 16 th from 9:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. headed up by Brooke Harris. Don t forget that we are still a predominantly white apparel Tennis. That includes hats and shoes. So please abide by the rules and it is not hard to do so. We can also provide white duct tape to wrap those colorful shoes. We have grown somewhat progressive over the years and even though it is an unwritten rule, we do allow up to 30% color in any piece of clothing. This rule does not apply to warmups. Hoping for good weather in May and seeing you out back participating in our many sports! PAGE 4 Players in action!

I am completing my junior year at the University of Illinois in Urbana - Champaign studying elementary education. I cannot remember a time in my life where I did not want to work with children and be a teacher. I have had a variety of experiences that have prepared me for this opportunity. This past year, I had a unique experience studying abroad in China and Australia while receiving the opportunity to visit and volunteer in their schools. It was the experience of a lifetime, and I am so lucky to have worked with children across the globe. Additionally, I have been employed at the St. Charles District 303 Summer Camp for the past six years, which makes me ready and inspired to make the summer camp at Dunham the best that it can be. I have many enjoyable activities prepared for your children that I know they are going to love. I am so excited to be working with your children, and I look forward to meeting everyone. If you have any questions for me prior to the start of camp, please contact me at bmharri3@illinois.edu. See you soon! The price for camp is $ per week, per child or $45.00 per day, per child.
