1 Supplemental Educational Services (SES) Effectiveness Report (ER) School Year Every year, school districts rate providers that offer extra help to students under the Supplemental Educational Services program. Every provider is rated on how well they do helping students learn. The ratings look at: How well they help students achieve better grades and do better on their classwork Student scores on classroom and state tests. Communication with parents and the school about a student s progress and needs. Parent satisfaction with provider services. Whether rules for tutor teacher qualifications and the safety and security of facilities are followed. There are three ranges for the scores: Not Effective (0-19) Needs Improvement (20-39) Effective (40-57) Many providers offer services around the state and scores from each site are combined into a single number. You can look at a score for the location in your town or their statewide score. Sometimes, local school districts provide supplemental services. The Ohio Department of Education hires contractors to evaluate these programs. -run programs show up in blue on the report. The list also includes providers that are no longer approved to offer services. They show up in red. The report highlights providers with an average rating of not effective in yellow. While it may seem odd to have providers listed that were rated not effective, providers are allowed two years to demonstrate that they can be effective. So what does it all mean? These scores can show how a provider does helping students, so ask them about their rating. You can also learn more by talking with the local school district that evaluated the provider.
