The event wrapped up with the fireworks display at the Jerome High School. 4 Our summer reading program was so much fun this year. Having members of the community participate brought a whole new perspective. A huge thanks goes out to the Northside Military Museum staff. They had fantastic activities each week from map reading and flag folding to camouflage face painting and decoding using the phonetic alphabet. The activity portion of our summer program may be over, but the reading portion will continue throughout the month. Children can track their reading and bring in their reading log each week and receive a prize. Each time a reader reaches the goal of 750 minutes, he or she will be entered in the grand prize drawing for one of our three awesome prizes. This training covers the fundamentals of caring for children of different age groups, safety, injury prevention, and keeping your charges entertained and engaged. Special attention is given to babysitting as a business, including leadership, preparation techniques, and communicating with parents. The class fee includes course book, 2-year certification card, and first aid kit. 7 Continued from Page 6 Horizon Elementary Horizon Library Summer Reading Program Tuesdays starting June 13- Aug. 1. Closed on July 4th. 10:00-2:00 and 5:00-7:00. Story at 10:30. Mrs. Rexroat will also be there on August 2 and 3 from 10:00-12:00 for book returns Summit Elementary Robotics Competition We are super excited to see three of our teachers (Penni Aufderheide, Andrew Purin and Trisha Neudorff) and several SUMMIT students travel to Oklahoma for a robotics conference. THANK YOU to the local businesses who supporting them in this huge opportunity to participate and extend abilities that are waiting to be explored. District Wide Jerome School District Migrant Summer School Migrant summer school was held June 5 th June 22 nd. Over 55 PreK-5 th grade students participated in the program. The theme was Healthy Living, Healthy Me! Thank you to all the local businesses and people who supported our program and made it a great experience for all; Jerome Recreation District, University of Idaho Extension, Skateland, Pure Energy, Jerome Public Library, Idaho Department of Fish and Game, CSI Outdoor Program, Family Health Services, Jerome Fire Department, Jerome Police Department, Jerome City Administration, and Jerome Food Service. The 7 th Annual Jerome Firefighters Local 4589 Fire-in-the-Hole Golf Tournament will be held on July 22 nd at Canyon Springs Golf Course.
