1 Philanthropy & Service Summary Theta Xi Fraternity MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS CHAPTER PROJECT RESULT Gamma MS Walk Helped the organizers by handing out water, encouraging participants, and aiding in a smooth event. 63 man-hours of service Delta Annual Quarter Mile Raised $2000 Lined MIT's Infinite Corridor (1/4 mile long) with quarters over three days Eta MS Walk 0 (in partnership with Gamma Phi Beta) Iota MS150 Bike Ride Raised $2000+ Sigma Bucket Drive for MS Raised $200 3-day, 72 hour drive in the center of campus. Upsilon Team Blitz Raised $1500 Worked with Ryan Asdourian, better known as Blitz, the mascot for the Seattle Seahawks, to generate support and funds for the National MS Foundation. Met Ryan (who has MS) through a chance blog posting our chapter. Helped raise funds during the week leading up to the MS Walk by selling Team Blitz t-shirts. Also helped grow Team Blitz to over 250 members to earn the Rookie Team of the Year and Biggest Team awards at the 2010 Walk MS. Omega Annual Sweet Heart of Theta Xi Sororities send one member from their houses to be crowned Theta Xi s Sweet Heart. Each sorority that participates donates forty dollars. Proceeds go to MS
2 Alpha Alpha 1st Annual Greek Olympics Raised $ teams (LSU sororities) competed in a mixture of ancient Greek and contemporary collegiate Greek traditions combined with a style reminiscent of old-school Nickelodeon game shows, including big-wheel (chariot) trike race, toga contest, trivia from mock Facebook pages of ancient Greeks (i.e. Socrates), launching water balloons from a slingshot at targets (Alpha Alpha members), and a giant inflatable obstacle course. Alpha Epsilon Theta Xi Breakfast Club Raised $1000 Served breakfast at the chapter house to raise money for MS. Alpha Eta Silent Auction for MS Items are donated and auctioned off at a Loveland ski resort, with proceeds to Can Do MS. Alpha Iota Dogeball Tournament Raised $550 (with KKG sorority) 17 teams in the male division, and 4 teams in the female division Alpha Iota MS Walk Distributed flyers to over 100 restaurants and businesses in support of the 3 rd Annual MS Walk Alpha Psi Theta Xi Crawfish Boil Raised $400 Alpha Sigma Mattress Wars 97% participation Beta Alpha The MS mile bike ride and festival that raises money for the MS Society. Beta Delta Macy's Coupon Sales Raised $500 Beta Zeta Stand Against MS Raised $450 Lemonade stand to raise money for the MS Society Beta Sigma Pie a Theta Xi and Pie a Joy (Joy Helsel, Raised $270 Greek Advisor) Beta Sigma Can Drive for MS Raised $400
3 Beta Upsilon MS Walk Raised $275 City of Pittsburgh Kappa Theta 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament: Raised $200 Supported both MS and Pancreatic Cancer 85% participation Kappa Theta Pie a Theta Xi Raised $50 For both MS and Pancreatic Cancer 70% participation Kappa Theta Halloween Costume Contest For both MS and Pancreatic Cancer 90% participation Kappa Iota Sit for MS Sit on top of scaffolding for 72 hours prior to a game, taking donations. Kappa Omicron Graffiti Party Raised $150 Inside of chapter house is papered and black lights installed. Markers are sold to attendees, with proceeds to MS hours of work. Kappa Sigma A Auction Raised $650 Chapter members were auctioned ourselves off to raise money for an alumnus who has MS. Gamma Epsilon Charity Softball Tournament (with 5 other greek organizations) Gamma Lambda Money Collection for MS at Walmart Gamma Mu MS Walk Raised $1200 Gamma Pi Full Moon Over Fashion Fashion show Raised $400 using student models, with clothing supplied by area stores. 400 attendees for a first-time event. Gamma Sigma MS Walk Manitowoc, WI. 60% participation TOTAL for MS = $21, 095
4 Mu Sigma Upsilon Alpha Alpha Alpha Beta Alpha Omicron Beta Alpha Beta Epsilon Beta Zeta Beta Pi Kappa Omicron Gamma Epsilon Gamma Iota HABITAT for HUMANITY Rake-a-Thon Raked yards of neighbors for donations Detroit Project Day Annual event where students partner up with Habitat for Humanity and help construct/destruct buildings in poor Detroit neighborhoods. 80% participation 50% participation 3 rd Annual Can Drive Habitat supplies trash cans, which are filled with cans (especially on LSU football game days). Can Drive for Habitat Brothers collected money near the campus bars in the wee hours of the morning. 2 members participated 14% participation Charity Concert 3 acts performed. Includes site preparation, ticket sales, promotion, artist correspondence, day-of security, etc. 85% participation Habitat ReStore Clean Up A day-long brotherhood event, with great publicity for the chapter. 20 members participated 24 man-hours (greek-wide event) 90% participation Raised $120 Raised $250 Raised $643 Raised $100
5 Gamma Pi Gamma Sigma Gamma Tau Gamma Phi Alpha Beta Beta Epsilon Beta Omega Homeless for Habitat Associate Members organized the event, in which 18 AMS plus brothers camped out on the lawn right in front of the University Center for 24 hours. Accommodations: cardboard boxes and sleeping bags, with amenities such as shopping carts and cardboard signs. Meals had to be supplied by passersby. 80% participation (greek-wide event) Doughnut Sale AMERICAN RED CROSS Blood Drive Hosted a blood drive for the American Red Cross including, set up, check in, etc. Food Collection Collected over 100lbs of canned food to donate to the Yolo Country Red Cross. Blood and Platelet Donations 18 man-hours Raised $50 TOTAL for HABITAT = $1,463 RELAY FOR LIFE (American Cancer Society) Kappa Omicron Chi Smoke For the Cure Chapter sells candy cigarettes and cigars, along with fraternity shirts in order to raise money for the local arm of the National Cancer Society. Relay for Life Susan G Komen Race for the Cure 50% participation Raised $100
6 Alpha Sigma Relay for Life Raised $500 80% participation Beta Delta Relay for Life Raised $750 Beta Epsilon Battle of the Bands Raised $600 Co-sponsored with Camp Kessem, a college student run summer camp for kids with a parent who has (or has had) cancer. 80% participation Beta Epsilon Relay for Life Raised $400 65% participation Kappa Omicron Relay for Life Raised $325 Kappa Sigma Relay for Life Gamma Alpha Relay for Life Raised $230 Gamma Iota Climb for Cancer 25% participation Gamma Kappa St. Baldrick's in Chicago Helped to support Raised $417 kids with cancer. 50% participitation Gamma Mu Relay for Life Overnight event at the campus rec center Gamma Pi Relay for Life Overnight event on campus. Theme: Change the Channel on Cancer. Each relay team had its own TV show to represent for the event. (Gamma Pi s was Tool Academy) Gamma Tau Relay for Life Raised $200 (campus-wide event) Gamma Tau Susan G Komen Race for the Cure 8-10 participants ROAD/COMMUNITY CLEAN UP Alpha Alpha Clean Up for Pop Warner Football League Prepared a parcel of land (1500 square yards) for construction of new football field for elementary and middle school students. Uprooted stumps, collected trash, cleared briers, etc. Oakwood Cemetery Clean Up
7 Delta Sigma Alpha Zeta Alpha Psi Beta Upsilon Beta Omega Kappa Iota Kappa Sigma Kappa Tau Gamma Eta Gamma Sigma Charles River Conservancy Cleaned up the banks of the Charles River. 50% participation Community Outreach Day Greek-wide event where all members walked through our neighboring blocks, going door to door and picking up trash in the streets. 80% participation Mountain Restoration with Tree People 25% participation Helped restore sections of Malibu State Park. Pulled invasive plants, planted trees, and watered plants to help restore vegetation. Highway Cleanup 95% participation Clean up at VFW Cleaned kitchen, building, dining and restroom facilities and did landscaping. 90% participation Trail Cleaning Worked with the US Forest Service to clean an area trail. 32 man-hours Boy Scouts of America Went to a local boy scout camp ground and prepared it for a camping retreat the following week. Raked leafs, cleaned cabins, and made sure the camp grounds were clean. Mott Park Cleanup Park and golf course clean up across the street from chapter house. Adopt-A-Highway Bi-annual project. 150 man-hours of work on a 4-mile stretch of highway 90% participation Road and Park Cleanup Highway Clean Up 90% participation
8 Gamma Gamma Eta Eta Iota Kappa Omicron MISCELLANEOUS Liberty Science Center Brothers were asked to help elementary students understand basic scientific principles. 17 brothers participated, for a total of 102 man-hours. Tutoring Tutor some middle school children in math and science. 4 brothers participated, for a total of 60 manhours. Haiti Relief Attended a Lehigh Community Service meeting to help brainstorm ideas to raise money for the relief. Theta Xi donated $400 dollars to the relief effort, then sent letters to alumni to spread awareness for the cause and to bring more financial support to the reconstruction of a broken country. Boys and Girls Club Every week, 3-5 brothers attend the Boys and Girls Club in Bethlehem to help keep children off the streets while their parents work. Work includes tutoring, talking, and playing with the children helping them to realize that being active in the community is the best way to live. School Painting Spent a day repainting local schools and doing other handy work. Youth Enhancement and Training Initiative (YETI) Chapter donated $100 to charity for aiding Nepalese orphans, every term of school. Hoops for Haiti IFC-sponsored basketball tournament for Haitian earthquake victims. Total proceeds of all teams was $14,000.
9 Chi Alpha Epsilon Alpha Epsilon Alpha Zeta Alpha Zeta Alpha Zeta Alpha Eta Rock the Block City of Columbus/Jefferson Center for Learning and the Arts 80% participation Children s Museum Volunteer every Thursday. 5-7 members attend each week. The Big Event Helped run a children s carnival in this community event. 50% participation Boys and Girls Club Event at Topanga State Park to benefit youth of East Los Angeles. Spent time with youth (ages 10-17) to teach about the environment and sustainability. Had a professional come to bring animals and teach about them, led team-building activies, and went on a hike to learn about the plants and wildlife native to the area that surrounded the path. 33% participation Cyber-Tutoring Help students in under-performing schools. This program is part of Volunteers of America and students are in a program called Upward Bound. Each brother is committed to 2 hours a week, tutoring in various subjects, ranging from math to English. 20% participation Boys and Girls Club Provided youth of East Los Angeles exposure to higher education and highlight to them such opportunities. Gave the youngsters a tour of UCLA and explained to them the importance of taking education seriously. 50% participation SEMS (Student Emergency Medical Services) Work with a local subs sandwich shop and wear letters when we eat there. The owner donates 10% of the entire day's sales to SEMS, originally founded by a Theta Xi.
10 Alpha Nu Alpha Nu Alpha Omicron Alpha Omicron Alpha Omicron Alpha Psi Beta Zeta Beta Zeta Beta Xi Beta Pi Beta Omega Kappa Omicron Food for the Homeless Paired up with ADX sorority to make 1,300 burritos and delivered them to a local homeless community. Benefit Concert Hosted by the brothers, with proceeds going to DESEA Peru. Louisiana Chitimacha Open Golf Tournament Helped set up the scoreboards for the tournament. Helped with security and clean up for an affiliated event in Parc International downtown. Helped disassemble the scoreboards. Cerebral Palsy Telethon Total of five members answered phones and took pledges from the callers for the 2-day telethon. Festival International 12 members helped setup and breakdown of the annual festival, along with the Dean of Greek Affairs. Spaghetti Dinner Helped Chi Omega with their dinner to benefit the Miracle Network 75% participation Kappa Delta Shamrock Run Donated $250 to benefit the Prevention of Child Abuse Alpha Delta Pi/Tau Kappa Epsilon Basketball Tournament Sponsor, donated $150, benefits Ronald McDonald Charities Leukemia Regatta Fall and spring semesters Jambalaya Sale To benefit Child Advocacy Services of America, of which alumnus Rob Carlisle is the CEO. Sold 175 plates of jambalaya in an hour and a half! Big Event SGA program 85 man-hours Benefit for Women s Resource Center 34 man-hours Raised $100

Cookout for Canned Goods Held a cookout and charged at least one canned good to get a ticket for admission. Collected 600 cans of food. Willow Tree Manor Helped run an orientation day for new patients. 65% participation Campus Move In Assisted campus housing by helping students move into on-campus dorms and apartments. Career Day Assisted Career Services department by setting up for and working during Career Day. Guided students and presenters, assisted with sign in, and set up/take down. Kicks for Kidneys To benefit the National Kidney Foundation 70% participation Tutoring Midtown Center For Boys in Chicago. Oneon-one mentoring/tutoring of 4th through 6th grade boys. 10% participation Bowl For Breath To benefit the National Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 30% participation Walk for ALS 95% participation Raffle Helped a sorority who had a member who lost a sister to Ewings Sarcoma. Special Olympics Polar Plunge Shuttle Gus Provided sober drivers and navigators for a campus shuttle service, providing transportation from local bars to dorms/apartments. Doughnut Sale Month-long doughnut sale to benefit the Theta Xi Honors Scholarship, which provides support to a freshman student each year ($1000). 2 nd Annual Theta Xi Hold'em or Fold'em Poker Tournament To support the Theta Xi Honor's Scholarship. 86% participation Raised $500 Raised $1000
