3 CLOVER KID CORNER Easy Soap Making Material Glycerin soap in many colors (this only works with glycerin soap) Soap or candy molds Microwave Microwavable cups or paper cups Plastic or metal spoons and/or wooden sticks or coffee stirrers Knife Instructions 1. Cover table or work area with newspaper. Cut bars of soap into about three pieces each. Put a piece into a cup (cut the piece in half if you plan to mix colors). Put soap in microwave and melt it on high for about 10-1 seconds (it may take longer on low-wattage microwaves. If it doesn't change to liquid in 1 seconds or it starts to bubble or boil, you may not have a pure glycerin soap bar). Remove it using a potholder, and stir to mix thoroughly 6. Pour melted soap (work quickly, it hardens fast) into molds(to prevent sticking, oil the molds with cooking spray or oil) 7. Wait about minutes for it to harden and cool 8. Remove from molds and continue the process 9. Put soap in gift bags or bath bags to give as presents! Next Generation -H On Tuesday, February 6th, Next Generation H club met in the Optimist Building for our monthly meeting. Our treasurer gave the report. members were here in attendance. Photography will be meeting in March. The date is unsure as of now. The Father-Daughter Dance made about $00 for our club. About 10 people attended the dance. Maggie Jacobs, reporter Hudson Hustlers -H The Hudson Hustlers -H Club met on February rd at Adam and Jamie O'Farrell's shop at 1:00 p.m. There were 11 guests, 1 leaders, and 0 members present. Allyssa and Brenden Engeman our state -H council reps for the West Central region attended and they gave a brief report. Several project groups gave reports including clothing/sewing, arts and crafts, shooting sports and horsemanship. Three members gave demonstrations. Kaylee O'Farrell, reporter Market Heifer & Steer Weigh in Sunday, March 11, pm MO-KAN Livestock Auction Passaic, MO CHANGES, CHANGES There will be no preregistration for in-building projects this year. Club leaders will be turning in a list of members to the Extension Office showing members in good standing. You still must register all livestock! This is just a trial run if it doesn t work, we ll go back to pre-registrations next year. Deadline for submitting newsworthy information (including photos) is the 1th of each month. Newsletter will be published on or by the th of the month!

Open to all -Hers, 8-18 (as of January 1st) dogs are welcome -H leaders are welcome and encouraged to attend and participate! Registration is April 1 to May 1 on HOnline. June 0-1 Public Speaking Academy, CMU Campus, Fayette. Must be registered by May 17. Missouri Community Service Commision 018 Annual Celebration of Service and Volunteerism Award The 018 Annual Celebration of Service and Volunteerism Awards nomination form is now available. These awards are presented annually to individuals and groups at an awards ceremony to acknowledge their commitment to communities in Missouri. If you know of anyone who would be a good candidate for these awards, please submit a nomination! The Missouri Community Service Commission wants to recognize Missouri citizens who generously give of themselves to support their communities and ensure needs of the people are met. Shooting Sports The State Shooting Sports Advisory Committee Met Jan 6 th in Columbia to discuss changes to the state shoot rules and dates. 5 018 Annual Extension Dinner On Monday evening, February 6, the annual Bates County Extension Dinner was held at Frontier Village, Adrian, MO, with Linda Howard catering the meal. Our guests included Assistant Vice Chancellor of Extension and Engagement, Joy Millard, and West Central Regional Director, Wayne Prewitt; and the Century Farm honorees Ronald Padley family, Ciggel Case family, Crain family, Moore family, and Gregory family. Special recognition was given to outgoing Extension Council members Dolly Robey and Wesley Merritt. New Council officers were sworn in by Marlene Wainscott. They are Jerry Ferguson, president; Mary Fischer, vice president; Kay Wetter, secretary; and Shannon Crawford, treasurer. Other council members are Paul Cumpton, Myra Colin, Libby Foster, Larry Hacker, and Marilyn Duckworth.
