4 Dear Residents, Families and Friends, What a wonderful summer we have been having. It is so nice to see residents, families and their friends sitting out on the beautiful patio enjoying the fountain, and the wonderful summer weather. I hope you all enjoyed our annual Family Independence BBQ on the 3rd of July. I would like to take this time to thank our fabulous staff for an absolutely wonderful evening. It was once again a very fun night with great food, entertainment, dancing and ending the night with fireworks. For Roiee's first Family BBQ I thought it was fantastic. We loved seeing all the kids and residents enjoy the night. Some of my favorite parts were seeing the staff dance and the residents eyes light up when the fireworks went off. If you haven't had a chance, you need to see our Quarterly Creation, Memory Care completed for their 2nd quarter challenge. The residents experienced a night in Paris, with a nice dinner, dancing and flower arranging. The creation was an team effort, and the video was produced by our very own cook, Stephen Bibbs. If you haven't seen it yet, stop by and see Felix and ask him to show you. If I say so myself it is amazing. I would like to remind you all that our Hot August Nights is right around the corner. It will be during our Sunday brunch this year on August 19th at 11:00. We will have entertainment, lots of cars, and of course a wonderful brunch. Come out and experience a day of fun and entertaining. We enjoy having our family members, friends and guests join us for our events. It would be very helpful that you remember to RSVP. This way we will make sure we have plenty of food and seating for everybody. Please make sure to make reservations for all events at the front desk or by calling Please continue to enjoy your summer, eat lots of ice cream, enjoy your family and friends, and take a moment to be thankful for all that is good in your life. Warmly, Lisa Schumann Executive Director

12 Our Trainers Make the Difference What sets Live 2 B Healthy apart? It s our Trainers! All of our Trainers are Certified Personal Trainers who are enthusiastic about our mission to create an outstanding fitness environment for the communities we serve. The Trainer s role is to design exercise classes (utilizing our proprietary protocols) appropriate to participants physical abilities; lead enjoyable, interactive, motivating and safe fitness classes; and assess class participants progress three times per year. Live 2 B Healthy Trainers encourage class participants to safely stretch their comfort zone both physically and interpersonally, often encouraging senior residents to try fitness exercises exceeding what might be tried if the resident were working out alone. As motivators and leaders, Live 2 B Healthy Personal Trainers are outgoing, personable, enthusiastic and positive. They must be willing and able to motivate a variety of individuals with varying abilities. Within each level, our Trainers have hundreds of choices for creating unique, safe and fun classes. Each level has between individual different exercises in each category - ranging from muscle group emphasis (abs, biceps, etc.) to method (stretching, bands, loops, etc.) emphasizing balance, strength and flexibility. Our Trainers customize each program to the community and base their classes on our concept of Muscle Confusion. Carlton Senior Living recognizes our fabulous Live 2 B Healthy Trainers including, Kym, Aria, Melissa and Austin, and appreciate their enthusiasm and dedication to enriching the lives of our residents. u u
