New Business Annual General Statement The Governing Board authorized the Governing Board President, the of Assurance & Certificate Superintendent, and the Assistant Superintendent of Student Services, for Lower Tier Covered as signatories on the statement reflecting these assurances for the Transactions 2010 fiscal year. MOTION: Stout SECOND: Clayborn CARRIED: 5-0 Gifted Scope and Sequence revised report The Governing Board approved the revised Gifted Scope and Sequence report as presented.

CTE Summer Plans Dean Petersen, Assistant Superintendent of Student Services, informed the board about the summer events planned for the Career and Technical Education programs. Two opportunities will be offered to students who do not have the following programs on their campus during the regular school year: 1) Introduction to Culinary Arts, June 8 to July 1, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday at Thunderbird High School. Enrollment will be limited to 30 students from Glendale and Sunnyslope High Schools. 2) Health Careers Education, June 1 to July 17, from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The first two weeks will be at Thunderbird High School with the final four weeks at the VA Hospital. Three remodeling projects that are scheduled during the summer are: 1) Career Centers at three high schools; 2) Welding lab at Cortez High School; and 3) Culinary Arts labs at Apollo, Independence and Moon Valley High Schools. West-MEC funds will be used for these projects. Beginning of the school year, designing and construction of a Culinary Arts building at Glendale High School which will also include meeting and training rooms. Mr. Petersen finished his report by highlighting the spring CTSO results from the DECA, FBLA, FEA and FCCLA conferences. These clubs did incredibly well in all of the competitions. E.
